Meyer lemon harvest day is one of my favorite days of the year... seriously! Pressed all of the juice and just started blanching the peels in preparation for candying. In a few hours, I’ll have a sheet pan of crystallized, candied, Meyer lemon peel... plus the candying syrup becomes an intensely lemon-infused syrup for drinks #🍋 #homegrown

Those are the words I sometimes use when describing my job as a food and product photographer/stylist.
Much like #saffron which comes from a type of crocus. Each crocus produces just three vivid stigma, which are called threads.
These threads are hand-picked and then dried, and it takes thousands of stigmas to produce one ounce of the spice.
My job has a lot of details behind the scene which (hopefully) show in the final image. Those details are crucial to ensure the food doesn't look dry or wet depending on the dish of course. Along with melting, cooling off and soggy are a few others issues to name a few.
But in the end, all the labour is worth it. Beautiful images ready for my client to use in any media they choose.
