Photo by @iantehphotography | My taxi driver during my stay in Linfen, also known as China's coal-capital in 2007, was an ex-coal miner. He would tell me stories about the dangers of the job, worrying everyday if he'd make it back aboveground after a hard day's work in the mines. He wasn't exaggerating, because at that time 80% of the world's coal mining accidents were in China. He took me to his old workplace, and while he caught up with his boss, I was allowed to explore. I walked down past the entrance to the colliery and waited in the dark until I heard footsteps of miners approaching. They were surprised when they saw me—a man in civilian clothes with a pair of cameras. I asked to take their portraits, but I'd need their help in the dark. Moving various workers around my chosen subject, I asked them to shine their head torches directly at their friend as I took this picture of him. They were delighted. After the shot I could hear them chattering excitedly as they continued deep into the dark for another day's work on the coal seams. #coal #mining #climatechange #nature #sky #sun #summer #beach #beautiful #pretty #sunset #sunrise #blue #flowers #night #tree #twilight #clouds #beauty #light #cloudporn #photooftheday #love #green #skylovers #dusk #weather

It was an epic a amazing journey around Papua New Guinea, however the sight of this a few days ago was painful to see. An estimated 100 Millions sharks are killed just like this one for their fins and a few other organs. We are decimating our wild life and must take actions if we are to give our children the chance to witness the amazing things our nature has to offer #shark #ocean #climatechange #saveoursharks #conservation
Whenever I embark on a self-improvement or wellness mission for myself I almost always fall into the same trap. Who was it that said “don’t let perfect be the enemy of good”... Google says Voltaire, so I’ll go with that.✌️yeah I’m really bad at that.
I’m deciding to cut myself some slack this round about my zero-waste and transition to veganism again. I’m deciding that perfect doesn’t have to be the enemy of good - as long as I’m better today than I was yesterday, or last week, last year. So yeah, I bought an embarrassing amount of vegan ice cream and tofu, I forgot my reusable produce bags at home and no, that ice cream was not healthy or #zerowaste... but at least I can tell myself that I am doing the best I can for not only my planet, but also myself and my family! 🌱🌲♻️🐝 (PS, the towel in my fridge is stored fresh dill, mint & basil that I harvested from my patio garden.) 👍🏽 #zerowasteliving #zerowaste #Sustainability #sustainablekitchen #veganlifestyle #plantbased #climatechange #combatclimatchange
Zero waste Tip:
Bring your own container
Keep a container at your work place or bag (if you can) and utilize them when you have to buy takeout. Most food establishments in Singapore are happy to take your own container except some fast food places.

What’s one thing you can reduce your consumption on, right now ⠀
Start big or start small but the key is to start.⠀
Here’s some ideas:⠀
🌱 purchasing pre made bags of popcorn ⠀
🌱 riding or walking instead of driving⠀
🌱 disposable coffee cups⠀
🌱 grow your own herbs⠀
🌱 reduce meat consumption ⠀

i see this ALL the time in comment sections: “western feminism isn’t necessary because you guys already have equal rights. pay attention to third work countries instead.” and while it is incredibly important to advocate for places in which women have much less rights than they do here, that doesn’t take away from the fact that feminism is still necessary here. in fact, feminism is always necessary. it is ALWAYS necessary to push for gender equality.
With Australia’s solar industry booming, unfortunately there is a direct correlation with the amount of valuable waste going to landfill.
Lotus Energy is way ahead of this rising issue. We have already signed an agreement to build a WTE (waste-to-energy) plant to process PVC (polyvinyl chloride), TPS (thermoplastic-sheathed) cable and rubber used in solar PV installations.
Lotus Energy is targeting to have a zero waste policy. #bepartofit

Am I the only one who feels like they're going to have a heart attack when passing all of the unnecessary plastic in stores If you live in a place with safe tap water, please please please invest in a reusable water bottle! It will save so much plastic, and it will save you money in the long run.
Dim the lights. Look up.

Decided to make a post of the zero-waste switches I've made so far :) the first is hygiene, the second is on-the-go (except for the detergent and tea bag). 💚
Also not pictured in on-the-go is a handkerchief and a food container. The containers I use right now are tubberware (because tiffins are expensive!) and I use them when I go out to eat to avoid using Styrofoam take-out boxes (if I can remember to bring them). Hopefully I can get a stainless steal container soon so that I can leave it in a safe spot in my car and not have to worry about forgetting it when I go out anymore. Mostly, for on the go, I've learned that I can often just take things from my kitchen instead of buying zero-waste specific products like eating utensils or coffee cups. 💚
As for hygiene, there are a few products I have yet to switch to zero waste alternatives. Either because I still have plenty left and I'm not going to throw it away just because, or because it's the best product that has worked for me. For example, I have a skin condition, so I use a special facial wash and prescribed medication for my face. These come in a plastic container, but I'm not about to switch those out for alternatives that can aggravate my condition, especially as mine are prescribed! So I don't switch out products if I have them for a specific sensitive condition/recommended by a doctor, no matter what. This includes allergies, of which I have many 😔. 💚
Making the kitchen zero waste has been a bit of a struggle, as I live with my mom and she has her own way of handling that part of the house. She's coming around though! In the meantime I do my best to avoid packaging by either shopping from no-packaging options or making things myself. I'm working on a lot of ideas there which I'll post about soon!

Zebra Lionfish (Dendrochirus zebra) in Twin Rocks, Anilao. This is one of the first few photos I took with the Z7 and I was blown away by the colors and detail.
The Z7's ability to utilize most NIKKOR F-mount glass using the FTZ adapter (in this case my favorite 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E fisheye) while retaining auto-focus speed and image quality was a huge selling point. This opened up the system to hundreds of lenses that can suit a myriad of shooting requirements.
It's been six months since I first started using the Nikon Z7 Mirrorless camera for my underwater and wildlife work and I felt it best to commemorate this by sharing my favorite photos while highlight the camera's exciting features. The last half-year was a transformative one—so much so that I eventually let go of my trusty DSLR in favor of this impressive camera. I went from skeptic to advocate in a short amount of time.
It's been an honor being a Nikon Mirrorless trailblazer. But don't let the title fool you and let this week's photos speak for themselves.

Preventing the climate from raising by 2 degrees is important not just for the environment but for humanity... humans are apart of nature and if it suffers so do we, we must all do our bit to protect this planet even if it means giving up our comforts.

What was once one of the most popular ways of #shopping is remembered each year on #August18 th as it is #NationalMailOrderCatalogDay.
This day marks the #anniversary the first Montgomery Wards #mail order catalog. On this day in 1872, Aaron Montgomery Ward of #Chicago produced a #catalog designed for direct order via mail. He aimed to remove the middleman from the #business of buying and selling. As a result, he drastically lowered prices.
The very first catalog consisted of an eight by 12-inch single sheet of paper. On it, Ward included the #merchandise for #sale, price list, and ordering instructions. Before long, the Montgomery Wards single-page list of products grew into a 540 page #illustrated book selling over 20,000 items.
It didn’t take long for enterprising merchants to copy Montgomery Wards’ idea. One notable merchant, Richard Warren Sears, mailed his catalog in 1896. As others entered the field, catalog sales grew. By 1971, catalog sales of major United States firms exceeded more than $250 #million in postal revenue.
It’s interesting to note, according to the National Mail Order Association, Aaron Montgomery Ward wasn’t the first to conceive of mail order catalog. In the #UnitedStates. Benjamin Franklin may have formulated the first basic mail order concept. He produced a catalog to sell scientific and academic #books. Franklin also receives credit for offering the first mail-order guarantee: “Those persons who live remote, by sending their orders and money to B. Franklin may depend on the same justice as if present.”
Today, mail order catalogs have been replaced with internet websites. Additionally, the term “mail-order” has been replaced with the term “ #online shopping.” #love #phototheday #style #hats ...brought to you by #DaaGodfather aka DaaGodfatherOfSolar your #SolarBrotherNo1 #ClimateChange #LovePeaceSolar

Tikiri, a 70 year old elephant, collapsed after being extremely malnourished and exhausted. She has been forced to walk with chains around her legs for several miles every night as part of a Sri Lankan festival. In addition to being chained and starving, she has dealt with noise from fireworks, people celebrating, and smoke.😔
There are 60 elephants like this one who are forced to walk and are treated horrendously for . All religions can and should be celebrated, but it shouldn’t involve hurting animals who take part.
@saveelephantfoundation has encouraged all to write to the prime minister of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe. His contact information is below. 🐘 #savetheelephants

Ilulissat Ice Fjord, Ilulissati, Greenland
After hiking out of town in the early morning, I crested a ridge and this vista appeared before me. Never, in all my travels, have I been so awestruck! So unexpected, so magnificant, so massive; an indescribable scene of which this photo is but a glimpse.
Located on the west coast of Greenland, 250 km north of the Arctic Circle, the Ilulissat Icefjord is the sea mouth of the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier, one of the few glaciers from the Greenland ice cap which reach the sea. It is one of the fastest and most active glaciers in the world, annually calving over 35 km3 of ice (10% of all Greenland calf ice). The Greenland ice cap is the only remnant in the Northern Hemisphere of the continental ice sheets from the Quaternary Ice Age. The oldest ice is estimated to be 250,000 years old providing detailed information on past climatic changes and atmospheric conditions from 250,000 to around 11,550 years ago, when climate became more stable. #IlulissatIcefiord #ilulissaticefjord #icefjord #ilulissatgreenland #visitilulissat #icefjordgreenland #unescoworldheritage
"The greatest threat to humanity is to think that someone else will save it" & "The Power of One" were some of the messages that we brought to the CLIMATE PROTEST today in San José as a Foundation.
Today, we had the opportunity to participate together with hundreds of people to protest in order to advance and resolve issues such as, °climate change, °illegal fishing,° plastic pollution, °shark fin fishing, °shrimp trawling, and others.
It was AMAZING to see how many people in Costa Rica care about the health of our planet and our natural resources, to preserve the oceans and all BIODIVERSITY ❤️
We have so much to do ahead but this is a good beginning. Specially because in events like these, we get together as ONE, here, it doesn't matter if we come with different topics because the main goal is to get closer to Nature 🌱 and take care of our planet at all levels, 1️⃣ pushing the government to pass laws, 2️⃣ invite corporations to take responsibility and 3️⃣ tell individuals to take action because we ALL have the power to change the planet, WE cannot miss this opportunity. IS THE ONLY ONE WE HAVE. 🌏❤️🌎❤️🌎❤️🌎❤️
