I DID IT! 💪🏽 🎉 Challenge complete - 10 handstand press ups!
I set myself a challenge in May to do 10 HSPUs. At the start of the month I could do 4 ‘comfortably’ - hours of upper body & core work in the bag, and spending a lot of time upside down, I’ve nailed 10 strict reps 👌🏽 turns out this knee injury does have positives! Well chuffed. Now to think up a June challenge...suggestions

RUSTY TO REFINED
You have to start rusty, before you get to refined. That’s the way of the world. Nature starts on wobbly legs and shaky foundations before it finds its feet. That wobble, those glitches, those misses, are important because they lay foundation for the good things to come. Such is the story of Shabrish. A doctor by profession who got so immersed in his career that his own health suffered. He tells me eight years post his medicine degree went in a blur. When I first met him, he couldn’t talk without breathing heavy. 35 years young, tipping the scales at 128kgs, working a high stress job and a higher potential for lifestyle ailments. By his own admission he had let himself go. Poor lifestyle and no exercise had brought him to this juncture. The first time he visited the box to talk to me, he cried, NOT MISTY EYED, he cried. Those tears were a grim realization of his neglect. During that conversation Shabrish couldn’t hold back his tears. He kept looking at the pull up bars and said “You know Kailash, once upon a time I could do pull ups.” His wife who accompanied him tried to diffuse the situation by cracking jokes, but the emotional floodgates had been breached. Tears kept trickling down his cheeks, as a Coach I deliberately didn’t console, I wanted that feeling of neglect to linger because in those tears I saw the fuel for change. My words as usual were few, “I can help you.” “Show up five days a week and we take it one day at a time.” Last three months have been hard, but Shabrish has shown up almost every single day. Endured soreness, achy joints, some real tough workouts. Shabrish today is leaner, faster and at 119 kgs 7.5 kgs lighter. The proof is in the pudding. First video is him being rusty with the rope, swipe right to see him chase refinement, ONE DAY AT A TIME. Shabrish you inspire me buddy. Keep at it. We are just getting started.
