Would you believe it if I told you that at one point in my life I could barely push a trolley around the supermarket because my core was so weak?

Well it’s true. After having my first child, my abdominal muscles split (this happens to about 70 percent of women during or after pregnancy). I had no strength and typical daily tasks were a mission, my back was screaming out and not to mention my horror when I looked at my tummy.

There is not enough information around telling you how to train your core properly in order to regain control and shape again. Its engrained in us that once we have a baby we need to get back to the gym to do sit ups and lift weights as this is apparently the best way to get your figure back.

It’s NOT true. In fact, you could be doing more damage than good. I hate to say it ladies but it took 9 months to grow such a miracle and that’s how long it takes for your body to to back to normal again (longer if breastfeeding). Sit ups will have a worse effect on your core UNTIL you have gained deeper ab and pelvic floor strength. Stay tuned as I talk about this more over the coming days and what you should/shouldn’t do. (Note that this pose is proof that I’ve gone from no strength to this and that using the appropriate method, you can be even stronger than before).

Would you believe it if I told you that at one point in my life I could barely push a trolley around the supermarket because my core was so weak - - Well it’s true. Exercise Spotlight – Modified Candlestick⠀

The modified candlestick is an advanced core variation similar to exercises like the plank. It trains your core as it functions to brace and maintain a solid and stable spine. As you lower yourself under control towards the bench, you drastically increase the demand to stay tight making the exercise exponentially more difficult. This variation focuses on holding that isometric contraction as you change your body angle. This one is really tough and often performing 2-5 really controlled reps is enough to give you a good hit for the core.⠀

Beginners: ❌⠀
Advanced: ✔️⠀

What are the key technique points?⠀
-	Hold onto the bench straight under your head or onto a fixed object like a rack behind you.⠀
-	Push yourself up into a vertical position, squeeze your abs and glutes to create a solid stable neutral position such as when doing planks.⠀
-	Squeeze hard through your core to maintain this as your lower yourself under control to the bench.⠀
-	As you reach the bench, reset and kick yourself back up to the start position. ⠀
-	If you lose control or positioning then stop the exercise until your muscles recover and you can keep the quality up.⠀

Few good core exercises to try.

Core strength is very important even in day to day living, A strong core can help protect our body especially our spine from injury.

Some are advanced but there are regression exercises for all.

1- Leg raises using a Gym ball, can also be do just using both legs together or a regression, both Knees in to chest and push both legs out as straight as you can ensuring they don’t touch the floor.

2- Two footed leg push out, This is a more advanced one but it’s your core straight away, A regression to this can be an hanging knees to chest, Hang off the bar then bring both knees to chest, Again trying to to tough the ground with your feet.

3- Alternate V-sits really good exercise 10 reps to each side,A regression to this to help build up your core muscle can be either half sit ups or full sit ups, Then this will take a bit of practice to get to grips with but a very good exercise to throw in to workouts.

4- V-sits this is another advanced one, A regression to this to help you build up can be half sits again or toe touches.

5- Swiss Ball plank, This can be done with no movement ensuring back is straight, Then to up the intensity you can do circles with your elbows to each side, A regression to this can be done the same way but on your knees then now and again try go on to the pivots of your toes and build up that way. Progression exercise can be with arms fully extended as shown on the last clip.

I am here today to start a chain of love, support and solidarity to one of our sisters, Johanna @johannakapesa.yoga 
Sadly, she lost her beloved husband Daniel few days ago, in a very tragical road accident.
She has 4 children.
She is trying to deal with all issues, (theybare many, believe me) that a tragic situation like that brings, and cope with all the pain...
So we are all far, what can we do?

Under en graviditet ökar avståndet mellan de raka magmusklerna för att ge plats till den växande livmodern. Avståndet blir större i takt med att magen växer. Hur stort eller litet avståndet hinner bli innan barnet eller barnen föds är individuellt.
Rektusdiastas kan även förekomma hos överviktiga.

Det är viktigt att träna om du har rektusdiastas och man bör då fokusera på coreövningar. Det är övningar som stärker muskulaturen i bäckenbotten, rygg, säte, buk och lår.

Målet är att omkringliggande muskelgrupper (de djupa bålmusklerna) aktiveras och tränas upp för att kompensera den instabilitet en rektusdiastas kan medföra.

Det är viktigt att aktivera bäckenbotten i samband med all magmuskelträning. Börja därför med bäckenbottenträning innan du börjar med statisk träning av den tvära djupa bukmuskeln och de sneda bukmusklerna, exempelvis sneda situps.

Det är inte farligt att träna de raka bukmusklerna vid rektusdiastas, men det inte så funktionellt eftersom den typen av träning är svår att genomföra när de raka bukmusklerna har skjutits åt sidorna. 
I efterhand kan du börja med mer belastande träning, till exempel olika varianter av situps på golvet eller med hjälp av olika redskap och vikter.
