What do you do after a not-so-good tempo run Apparently, I come home to work on a yoga pose that I haven’t quite mastered. I will get into side crow one of these days and I will also nail a tempo, one of these days. Geesh. Running is SO hard for me this year! I wish I knew what was different from last but, no looking back, right Only forward and the path to success certainly isn’t linear. I need to find my patient pants, put them on and keep them on! In the mean time, I just won’t give up. Miles looked like this today:
3 miles up (oh! The best part of this was running into Vicki and getting to run about half my warm up with her 🤗)
25 mins tempo (ugh ugh ugh!!! I had to stop a few times cause I’m the worst!)
3ish miles to get home (thank-you, again, to the wonderful people at @mcdonalds for the free water!)
So, that’s my morning so far! A peek into a couple of things I’m not good at: yoga and tempo runs 😝Bad run Still better than none at all! Color me happy (I can say that now that it’s over and I’ve cooled down 😜)!
the first time i ever tried crow pose was in my junior year dorm room & i face planted so hard on the floor my nose got rug burn 🤦🏻♀️ ⏩ fast forward 8 years to a hot yoga class i took with @molly_pooler_yoga this summer when the teacher called crow & i hopped right in it. it finally felt easy. that is... UNTIL the teacher patted her thighs and said “come on, jump up!” my first thought was LOL WTF & when she tapped her legs again i knew she had an absurd level of faith in my strength. so, there go my legs to the sky 🤸🏻♀️ she stabilized my handstand and walked away, leaving me basically naked and afraid for my life, but it was cool 😂 .
moral of the story: get the hell out of your comfort zone! we all work so hard in what we do on/off the mat, so relish in the successes, but don’t stay anywhere so long that you get attached to a particular situation or outcome. you never know when your crow could be a rug-burn somersault or a surprise handstand. both outcomes are valuable. .
so many amazing crows out there for day 2 of #midsummerarmbalance! It’s not too late to join, and we welcome all levels to hop in on the fun 🤗
