I very recently signed up for Lauren Hom’s online lettering workshop and this is my first entry. The workshop is such an awesome way to get your creative juices flowing and if you’re someone who regularly experiences creative blocks, like me, then this workshop is a great way of overcoming and minimising them.
This weeks task was to create a piece with a repeating word or a group of words; something meaningful and relevant to your current life. I went with the words 'CREATIVE NICHE' because, recently I've been thinking quite a bit about what my creative niche is. Do I even have one Should I have one
As amazing as instagram is, it can be the ultimate source for comparison and unfortunately I've fallen into that trap recently.
It's sometimes inevitable to not compare, especially with the growing social media right at your finger tips and I guess it's that comparison that has provoked my recent thoughts on looking for my creative niche. I see these incredible artists with the most cohesive and unique content and it makes me question, is my work individual enough Probably isn't...
Anyways, the positive side to the story, I put my thoughts on paper and made art, and that's what I love about being creative; it's a pretty way of expression.
P.S. Sorry for the verbal vomit 😅
