"If we say yes to life - to all of it - we cannot bypass the messy, soul-stretching work that asks us to get our hands and feet dirty as we practice new ways of showing up." 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
In my opinion, life's biggest test comes when every single plan you make falls through, leaving you back at square one. The last few months have been my test. To be honest, nothing has gone as planned. The whole CFI training has come to a crawl, if that. I've officially been rejected by Virgin Galactic 5 times, on top of the half dozen or so other jobs I've applied for and either heard nothing or been told no. My spirit has taken a beating. However, it hasn't failed me yet. Through helping my brother with his job, I've met some incredible people who have given me some new opportunities that I wouldn't have given a thought to otherwise. Photography is quickly transitioning from a hobby to a job, I'm helping promote a local EAA fly-in that's happening next month, and hopefully soon I'll find myself back in an airplane hangar in an administrative role. Life is no where near what I expected it to be right now and I'm slowly learning that that's okay. I'm not sure when I'm going to fly again, but I'm hoping all of these different opportunities will lead to a bigger one down the road. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
Badwater is at 282ft below sea level and extremely hot in August. A short hike to see the salt flats feels like exercising in a dry sauna. The rising sun casts interesting shadows in the surrounding mountains.
Desert mountains. I look to the hardiness of the plants which find ways to survive the dry, harsh, lashings of the desert. I look to the animals to find grace in maneuvering over unforgiving and unrelenting terrain. I look to the pictographs left behind, markers of memories, keepers of history, to understand the importance of presence, perspective, artistry, and record keeping. I look to the peaks of mountains for focus, a goal to set the sites upon. I look to the sky, for a willingness to know there are certain things which cannot be attained, held, or understood, and that it's ok to leave them. You don't need to hold some things to feel their beauty.
I always retreat to the mountains when overwhelmed. I repair and mend. It was a good trip home.

Some journeys can be mesmerizing. Some are thrilling, packed adequately with breathtaking moments. No journey is boring if one is curious to observe, learn and experience.
Looking back, the decision to choose the road route from Manali to Leh was totally right. The Delhi-Manali HPTDC bus negotiated through a breakdown and bad roads (due to recent rains) and made it to Manali almost 3 hours late. The connecting Manali-Leh bus and other passengers waited 1.5 hours. The bus had more empty seats than passengers. I have heard of short wait times, but this one deserved a heartfelt thank you to HPTDC and the co-passengers of this journey.

Good morning is right!
Still up early like usual, but this weekend we will be checking out business opportunities in Phoenix.
Sad we’re not in the gym (don’t worry, we’re hitting that later), but definitely looking forward to exploring new places and to new adventures. If you have any recommendations for places to eat or things to see let us know!
More to come... @delta
