For the second day of fitmas, I give you my second tip on maintaining a fit lifestyle: mirror selfies. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Kidding of course. But maintaining pictures and measurements of your progress allows you to do two main things. One, hold yourself accountable with measurable scale and non-scale goals. Two, document progress consistently so you can see your changes over time as you progress to a goal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pictures are awesome because, when synced with a food journal, you can see how your aesthetic fluctuates as your diet changes in both the short and long term. Yes, I was getting morbidly obese, and in a way I still am.

I was drinking way too much 🍺 alcohol, eating too much fast food, and I stopped 🏋️‍♀️ working out.

I’ve been on an alcohol cleanse for the past 1.5 months and it’s allowed me to get such mental clarity and focus.
_
I make it a priority to work out 3-5 times a week, prep my meals, and limit how much fast food I eat.
_
I’ve cut sodas from my diet completely, as well as input essential vitamins to maintain a healthy body. _
Quit making excuses and

I comb and blow dry it multiple times a week and it’s attached to my head, so you’d think “DUH, how did you not know this?!” Well… the answer is simple. I was too focused on the “flaws” of my body to notice. I sure have noticed the wiry white hairs popping out from behind my brown hair. I notice that my cheeks are bright red. I’ve guilted myself about how much weight I’ve gained, and how pudgy my face looks as I’m watching myself blow dry my hair. I notice the dandruff I have and that it’s getting worse as we get further in to winter. I notice the pimples on my face and the annoying little wiry hairs that sometimes pop out of my chin. I notice that my toe nail polish is chipping when I bend over to blow dry the bottom layers of hair. For so long, I’ve wanted my hair this long. SO long. And now that I’ve had it, I didn’t even notice it enough to appreciate it because I was so fucking focused on what’s “wrong” with me.

I’m so over this mindset. I’m so over hearing other women talk about their physical “flaws” that they need to “fix.” I’m so tired of hearing about weight. (Yes, I fall in to this trap too and still have to put myself in check.) It’s time we start to learn to accept ourselves as we are in this moment. Sure, there will always be things that we have room to improve on, but it doesn’t mean we have to be negative toward ourselves. I know it’s super easy to find negativity, but let’s start to look at the positive things and find gratitude, shall we? Maybe we need to get to a healthier weight, but in this moment, we choose to appreciate our feminine curves. Maybe we could use some improvement in our eating habits, but dang that ice cream sure tasted good! 🍨 Maybe we need to get more movement in our daily routine, but we can choose to appreciate the time we’ve allowed ourselves to rest. In this moment, it does us no good whatsoever to use negative self-talk and allow ourselves to feel like shit.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re trying to lose fat, build muscle, or even just maintain a healthy body weight...

If you don’t have a clear & concise plan for your eating, you’re going to find yourself stumbling back into old habits time and time and time again.

Now look 👀—> I’m all for living in the moment and adjusting your meals based on what’s going on around you. But the reality is, we live in a society where tempting foods are all around us, and it’s super-duper easy to give in.

Because of that, you need to have an eating plan.
⠀
Maybe you feel like you don’t have time to meal plan, or that your social life makes it hard to stick to a regular eating schedule. ⠀
I get it... but I don’t buy it.
⠀
It’s not a matter of time — it’s a matter of priority.
⠀
So you don’t have time... it shouldn’t take you more than 10-15 mins to plan a day of eating, especially if you use the template provided in this post. In fact, it’ll likely save you time since you'll not be constantly thinking about what you’re eating next.

So you have lots of dinners out... those dinners aside, the vast majority of your weekly meals are still gonna be within your control.

What I’m saying is this:

👉 I understand you’re busy.
👉 I know that it’s hard to plan ahead.
👉 I get that your agenda changes on the spot.

But that’s life. You’ll always be busy, tired, stressed, & have a reason not to plan...

Don’t let what slows you down occasionally stop you from accelerating with what you do often. Most of the time, life is routine and YOU are in control.

That’s when you need to dial in your nutrition plan.

The lateral delts are the sides of your shoulders that give you the v-taper and fit physique you want. If you ever struggle to work that muscle, it is because biomechanics are often against you.

During the first 15-30% of traditional dumbbell lateral raises, your lateral deltoids are not actually the primary contributor to shoulder abduction (raising your arm to the side). A rotator cuff muscle called the supraspinatus will take over, making it that much harder to target the lateral delt.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But when you lean sideways a little, the path of the dumbbell will actually allow tension on your lateral delt through out the range of motion rather than getting cut off at the beginning.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you add a cable instead of dumbbell, you would allow a resistance curve that more closely matches you strength curve as well, meaning you won't be experiencing the greatest tension when your muscle happens to produce the least force.

Amazing.. One angle twist and i look 21 again!😜. Yet, couple of months back, no angle nor twist made me feel younger than 50 as i was overwhelmed with so many kgs that i didn't need. Today after losing 14 kg i feel younger in my energy and healthier in my body! I am not seeking to look younger in age as i have worked hard and well earned all these years i am growing! Every experience, white hair or wrinkle is worth the state i am in today and how i am feeling. You’re up a few pounds on the scale, and with more holiday parties right around the corner, you feel like putting this whole healthy lifestyle thingy on hold until January...

If that’s what you wanna do, I won’t judge you.

You gotta do what's right for you.
⠀
But it would be remiss of me if I didn’t say that waiting until the New Year is the absolute WORST thing you could do right meow 😾👎

For a couple of reasons:

1️⃣ the more you delay things, the longer it’ll take to build the body you want, and the habits you’ll need to maintain it.

2️⃣ Even if you totally blow your diet at a few holiday parties this month, that’s still just a few meals out of the 90+ meals you’ll be eating before January!

Here’s my advice —> enjoy your holiday parties when they come...

Eat the cake & pie 🍰🥧
Drink the wine & eggnog 🍷🍶
Kiss your crush under the mistletoe 💏
⠀
But do NOT let a few high-calorie Christmas or holiday meals turn into a whole month of eating off track 🙅‍♂️
⠀
Because You know that won’t make you happy. It’ll just set you up for more disappointment once 2019 rolls around...

Get on track now and do the best you can this month.

First progress pic. 12 days into the diet. 93 days to go. Worked out for 20 plus years and had a back injury that kept me out of the gym for over 5 years. This picture is 14 months back in the gym after a long bulk to get my strength back up and just a couple of days cutting! 14% body fat, 240 lbs and 5'11"! Pretty awesome! Lines are already coming in! Picture is post workout (the hair lol) and two meals in. No frills.

🔸Ogni volta che ci sediamo a tavola facciamo scelte vitali per la nostra salute, ma il più delle volte non ne siamo consapevoli.🍌🍉

🔹La fretta, la stanchezza, la scarsa motivazione, la mancanza di fantasia, le cattive abitudini e i nostri gusti alimentari un po’ ripetitivi possono guidarci in una direzione diversa dal nostro benessere.🍏🥥

🔸Chiaramente, per seguire un’alimentazione sana e genuina occorre non nutrirsi soltanto di questi alimenti, ma variare la dieta con altri cibi che contengano nutrienti complementari.🥐🌯

👉🏻E’ quindi, importante conoscere ogni singolo alimento per mangiare sano ed in modo adeguato, ma anche precisare che i cosiddetti superfood non sono alimenti che procurano guarigioni, ma solo validi alleati per una salutare nutrizione.🍯🍫😉
