Port as a digital and physical platform

Orchestration is made possible by completely digitalizing all flows related to cargo journey and digitally tracking how cargo moves along in its journey. Instead of a single, monolithic application to do it all for us, we recognize that an array of technologies and software needs to collaboratively fulfil this need. Today, even the best-known platforms don’t include all the data necessary to make better supply chain decisions or don’t reflect all processes that make the cargo move efficiently. Another drawback of the existing platforms is that they don’t provide insights for each organization engaged in moving cargo along its journey to improve itself.
Therefore, these platforms need to become port, carrier and shipper -oriented supply chain orchestration platforms, while the actors need to make optimal use of converting knowledge learned from the transactions happening on those platforms into creation of new value-added services to the shippers/beneficial cargo owners.
