I logged a lot of hours on this weird painting after being pretty sick for a month, I made a lot of choices early on that sort of boxed me in that I wouldn’t normally make that left me feeling stuck and like the painting was irreparably ugly and ‘technically bad’. Sometimes, though, for the way I use my work to process through my feelings about my not-so-well-behaved-body, I think this frustration is part of the exercise. Working in less-than-ideal circumstances means I feel more free to take chances and let my intuition and sense of humor open up on the painting. Using the figure in the work as a place to work out my own hatred/frustration/desire to protect/find love and tenderness for my body is cathartic and part of healing for me. She’s far from done (aren’t we all!) and I’m excited to get back to her this weekend! Her little tiddies are getting cold!!
!!! thanks to patreon supporters, finding home will be getting an extra update per month as long as it’s over the goal, starting today 🎉🙏✨ December sketchbook is up now, with a holiday special comic coming soon for $5+ ❄️😘 since my health problems have become more severe and my mobility’s got worse, having more income from personal projects is a huge help, making it possible for me to work more flexibly and avoid crunch deadlines which make my illness worse 💛💛 link is patreon.com/haridraws and all support, no matter what level, is always SUPER appreciated!! 💛💛 #artist #disabledartist #comic #comicart #patreon #drawing #sketch #illustration #art
Not all women menstruate, and not all people who menstruate are women.
It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like...another cis, white, able-bodied man in charge. 🙄🎄
Looook, me and @wallis.prophet made some cheeky lil greeting cards, which are available on our @thetheythemcollective Etsy site (linked in the Collective bio). Thanks @thehomeoftheblues for lending us such a photogenic model 🐶
“It’s Raining Medical Bills!” So freak accident has me down for the count this week - (injured my eye badly - I’m going to be fine but it’s been an extremely stressful and painful week) - and I remembered this photo I took of myself with my medical bills for one year and thought it was apropos for sharing what my reality can be like aside from my art. (And also helps drive home why being able to do my art is so important for my health and well being! So is trying to have a sense of humor about it all!)
