🧱 Feeling like your muscles are made of bricks
🤸🏼♀️ Why should I stretch
Stretching helps improve range of motion and mobility. It also boosts blood flow and oxygenation of tissues; helps deliver nutrients to your muscles, and facilitates the removal of metabolic waste such as carbon dioxide, ammonia, and uric acid. As a general rule, warm up first, then stretch. Stretching is particularly important prior to high-intensity sprinting exercises, but is best avoided prior to weight training.
🧘🏻♂️ What some key areas to focus on to reduce risk of injury
Hold each of these stretches for around half a minute, and depending on how long you’ve got, repeat once or twice on each leg:
✅ Lying hamstring stretch with cord
✅ Lying gluteal stretch against wall
✅ Keeling quadriceps stretch against a wall
✅ Standing Gastrocnemius (upper calf) stretch
✅ Hip flexor stretch while keeping your hips squared forwards
⛹🏼♀️ But I feel reeeeally tight, how can I ease in to being more flexible
Depending on how flexible you are, try to do these stretches after every run or exercise, at least once or twice a week. If you need to work on a specific muscle, practice deeper progressions of these stretches; and once a week, practice some full body stretches to target multiple muscle groups.

With another semester coming to an end for many #nursing and #nursepractitioner students or graduation right around the corner I wanted to remind you that you got can do this! You can finish and become a nurse or nurse practitioner. Whatever your dream is. *.
I was kicked out of medical surgical class in nursing school (check out my post on everydaydrmary.com) and graduated on time and I'm now a DNP. I had my gallbladder removed and then open heart surgery all during nursing school. I didn't let any obstacle get in the way of my dreams. I wanted nothing more than to take care of people as the nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and doctors had done for me throughout my life. *
So remember you're amazing and smart. You can finish and live out your dreams. Good luck !! ♥️

It was only meant to be a dating app hookup. Turns out HeartBreaker531 isn’t an anonymous medical student after all—he’s my new chief resident…
As one of the top cardiac surgeons in the United States, Dr. Lauren Decker is fearless in the operating room, but her personal life is a different story. After her surgeon ex-husband cheated on her with a nurse half his age, Lauren has sworn off men—doctors, specifically. Never again.
But one day, the sexy and infuriatingly cocky Ryan Castle arrives. Looking to be the newest resident on staff, he challenges Lauren’s resolve to protect her heart. He’s gorgeous, ten years younger, a smartass at the top of his game, and soon, Lauren finds herself fighting fantasies of late-night trysts in the cardiology wing.
Like Lauren, Ryan’s been burned by love, but what starts out as an irresistible challenge to get Lauren into bed soon turns into more. She’s fighting what she feels by giving him the cold shoulder, and there’s only one thing to do.
Turn up the heat in the ER.
Today whilst helping one of my patients to sit up for the first time after her op, she suddenly felt faint, lost conciousness, fell back into her bed and began vomitting.
I immediately rolled her unto her side in the recovery position, quickly looked for a response and a pulse. When I got none, I pressed the crash call button and the team came running in within seconds. We get many false alarms on the Elective Surgical Unit, so when I shouted “It’s a real one” All hands were on deck..
Quick thinking on the spot, as a few things were out of place: Ward Manager Sister held the suction tubing while I cut to size and attached the yanker, rebreather mask high flow to 15ltrs secured unto patient. I then called for the crash trolley and another member of the team brought the Obs machine. Team work makes the dream work 🤝💪 In that moment, once again I new that medicine and saving lives was one of the things I should have done a long time ago..
**** Patient is Stable*****
Feliz día del médico a la mejor, no sólo por lo que sabe si no por todo lo que ella además ES! ♥️
Patient came in after having a minor chip in her front teeth. She initially wanted veneers because her wedding is coming up, but she was a good candidate for a composite restoration. She was extremely happy with the results!! #doctorlaleh
Just five minutes. No more than that; it'll just be a little much needed nap I told myself as i sunk away into a paralyzing deep sleep. I managed to slip away from the surgical ICU team after morning rounds to a private little backroom where I could still be nearby in case I was paged. The room doubled as a supply closet and conference room; for some it was a place to get in a quick nap if you had the right sweater. I once joked with a resident about an engineer who must have gotten lazy on the job and placed all the air conditioning vents in that room. Despite the heavy circulation, caution needed to be practiced so as not to stir up dust from the abandoned bookcases lining the back wall. With enough deep breaths through the nose, you could almost smell the musty books, untouched for decades.
My sleep intensified but I remained alert. Within a few moments I found myself strapped to a bed amd pushed off into a corner in the same very room. I was surrounded by men and women. All angry and frustrated, they circled around a center table and shouted at their counterparts.
"Idiot. That would never work" Shouted my second surgeon.
"Oh you've had your shot. Sit down and let a real professional take a crack at it" said my first surgeon.
"A real professional I went in to clean after you and saw nothing but a chewed up mess.. Keep your hands of my patient."
"Cut cut cut. That's all you do. You've had your try. Chemo was the only modality that ever worked. Let's just be grateful he listened to me and not you back in 2016. He needs immunotherapy" Echoed my oncologists.
"Nobody had time for your witchcraft. If he had come back to me the second time, I would've taken care of it and we wouldn't all be here. But no you all had to toss him around" bellowed my second surgeon. He was by far the most invested.
They continued to circle around the table and bicker about my scans and labs until a loud whooshing sound drowned out their voices. I was overcome with chills as the room instantaneously dropped in temperature. I woke suddenly and realized I was directly beneath the air conditioning which had kicked on and was responsible for the whooshing sound...-m
Un buen doctor es aquel que además de curar tus enfermedades, te da la calma cuando te agobia la desesperanza; alguien como ustedes queridos doctores y amigos. ¡Feliz día del médico a todos mis colegas!

Happy 2nd night of Hanukkah from our practice! May the Festival of Lights bring you warmth and joy 🕎💙 #happyhanukkah
It is with deep regret and profound sadness that United Hatzalah of Israel mourns the loss of a great visionary who served as the Medical Director of Chevra Hatzalah for more than 30 years. Dr. Friedman’s untimely passing brings about an end to the mentoring and guiding that Dr. Friedman has given to Hatzalah first responders for decades.
A great light was lost for the Jewish people just prior to Chanukah and we are saddened to see the dimmer world that is left in the wake of Dr. Friedman’s passing.
May his memory and legacy serve as a blessing for the entire Jewish nation and may his work live on and grow with Hatzalah first response volunteers all over the globe, no matter where they may be.
