Oscillating between “Y’all ready for this Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah”
“Scared our of my mother-effing mind.”
Because I think it’s important to be open and vulnerable about these things. I love trying new things but it is always nerve-racking to go beyond your comfort zone!
Today was Day One on the mural. I can already tell you I feel more calm. I’ve already met some awesome people & have the help of the talented @raymawst who is helping me stay sane & learn on the go. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We didn’t make very much progress today but I’ll be around working on painting this lady this week & next near the corner of 65th & North Ave in Tosa if you want to come say hey!
The handicrafts of Peru are stunning, striking, and so colorful. Are you daring enough to put shades this bright on your walls The minimalist style that is popular right now focuses on monotone shades and lots of greys. But Peruvians are not afraid of neons, bright yellows, and lime greens. I think we could learn a lot from their use of color in textiles, and embody a little more playfulness.

And by eating right I mean I’ve just been gorging myself on avocado toast again 🥑
This is it everyone. This hoop is finished as of today! This is not the finished photo, I still need to give her a good wash before I can call her totally done.. BUT the end is only moments away.. This hoop has taken me 90+ hours to finish and I’m so ready to see it in all its final glory before sending it off to its forever home with my mother.
Stay tuned! Will be posting the final pics hopefully in the next few days!

LET'S TALK BRANDS
The landscape is full of the big and shiny, the small and quirky, the ones people rave over, the ones which have fallen by the wayside.
The ones which pivot, the ones which stand firm.
The ones who just survive and the ones who thrive.
I’m all for being the IT brand IT works for me, but tell me tell me - which are you
Are you all for the brand name, or happy with a just as good or better alternative

Words to live by my lovelies 🌸
When you're choosing brands, ask the hard questions. What are their product's effect on the planet and the people on it Do they pay their workers well Are the materials sourced ethically Like REALLY ethically
It's so easy to get sucked into the fast-fashion world because it's the world we live in. When you find brands that put what's right over what's going to rake in the most profit, you're probably going to be buying a higher quality item and better customer service. It's less convenient to do the research, but believe me, it's worth it in the long run. 🌟
Some sketchbook pages, started with a doodle and now it’s full on. Endless colour schemes to explore.
All about the process | .
I want to screen print every image I’ve ever carved onto these pocket sized treasures. So here’s no. 3 in the series, Willamette Valley. .

Here Comes the Sun print in Tern Gray and a yogurt parfait. #lovetable
We’ve been birthday-ing and end-of-schooling and Fourth-of-July-ing and family vacationing and family funeral-ing and now I feel like I blinked and tomorrow is my 36th birthday (my usual mid-summer marker). And now we’ve super slowed down and everything feels slooooow and borrrrrring and not in a super nice way always. I’ve picked up a bunch of surprise client design work this summer, which is GREAT, but it means that I’ve hardly been creating for creativity’s sake at all. I haven’t even had time to post a backlog of things I’d made earlier in the summer. (And by “haven’t had time” I mean that I 100% have had my phone in my hand 50% of every day but just don’t know how to get back in a creative flow of writing and posting).
One of my many overly-ambitious goals for this summer was to make a meaningful piece of art. One with no words on it. I’m not yet mentally or emotionally prepared to talk about it, but these are my beginning little test patch/brainstorm/sketches. I’m pretty into it.
So excited to share this NEWS! I’ve been working with @theinventorcenter on recycled wood to use for custom framing. Today we worked on a prototype floater frame. I want you guys to have the option to purchase a custom frame along with one of my original paintings. The Inventor Center has been great support. I recommend checking them out in downtown Kingsport. Incredible, talented people.
Disclaimer: make sure you wear safety glasses as well as have your hair back (if needed)
New plant hangers will be on deck for the Clinton Music & Arts Fest! I love this new mustard color- what do you guys think
A recent work I finished.
The world doesn’t need another painting, let alone another painter. The world needs to be caught up into the world of the life of its Creator and all His beauty and majesty therein. I want to show that place, where I belong!
Growing is like the fresh white canvas being stretched and pulled into place by the artist so that the surface can be primed and ready for each stroke of the brush to display the wisdom and skill of his hand through the slow process of building a beautiful painting.
Every painter has a palette. It could be wood, glass, or a paper plate. It's the surface that starts the process of mixing. It's the place that shows the skill in depth of the understanding in how the painter lays out their colors. Even if a palette is left unused for a time, the history and beauty of the painter's art is clearly displayed. That beauty on the palette itself is the art.
My hand-painted glass ornaments are 30% OFF in my shop! chellesbrushncanvas/shop/www.etsy.com
I opened a shop for my artwork. For now, I have hand painted ornaments but I am going to be working on a collection of still life oil paintings. This shop will grow to be primarily the place for my work. I'll be sharing as I can.
The light flooding into my new studio space brought into focus the work ahead for me as I pulled nails and staples out of my oak floor. Just like my friend Jenny told me, life is a journey. I want my journey to to be caught up into God's greater plan for me than what my mind can conjure up within these walls. Since He is my source, my opportunity for change and growth in my life is endless perfection, finally when I see Him face to face, but my hope for it is now because of my union with Jesus. Living in wisdom is faith and trust in seeing through the lenz of scripture and His gospel made possible only in Jesus Christ. The beauty my eyes see and my heart knows is because my journey has been caught up into another. It's not about me, or my voice or even my art. It's all an echo of His beauty that I've been caught up into. That means I will be vocal of Him, my art on canvas will reflect what he does in my heart, and it will be messy, because grace is messy! I'll mess up, and fall short. I'll need hard critique and I'll need my heart to be humble to face my failures and choose to grow. This is white space to find grace because Jesus took my place!
