Who Loves Baby• Baby’s First Picture Book
A follower (and dear friend since middle school!) recently reached out for ideas to do with his wee little ones. One of my suggestions was to utilize pictures of family or pets.
Craft stores have very cheap standing picture frames to use during tummy time, but I also suggested taping pictures to the wall or a box. Placing the pictures around baby gives you lots to talk about with baby and gives them great visuals to stimulate their senses. It’s amazing to watch as they grow how they react to different pictures. My girls always giggled and kicked when they saw a picture of our fur baby.
Another alternative or something for little ones who are passed tummy time is this awesome book- Who Loves Baby by Sassy Developmental Baby Toys. You can find this on Amazon for $6.99. It fits six 4x6 pictures that you slide in each page. The pages turn easily and the material is safe and great for mouthing. This is perfect for developing communication skills with baby and early reading skills (turning the pages, left to right— it’s never too early!).
You know the one who hits or bites.
Maybe you are describing the one who excludes everyone except his inner circle.
Perhaps it's the child who says mean things to others and is out of control.
Maybe it's the girl who refuses to play with your child or tells her she can't come to her birthday party.
Yes, all of those kids are "mean" that is how your gut describes them. In reality, those are children who are having a hard time whose reactions are raw and unsuccessful.
Their reactions are protecting them from something their gut has defined as "mean" as well.
I am sharing this reminder to inform you that HOW you talk about these children to your child is impactful.
"That boy is so rude. Just stay away from him."
"She is out of control. She needs to learn manners."
"Oh my goodness, again He needs to go to another class."
"Well, it sounds like he is the mean kid in the class."
While all of these parent responses may be true, what they lack is EMPATHY.
Empathy for that mean little kid
Your empathy for that chid allows your child to know in advance what your response will be to their fall from grace.
Your empathy will afford your child the gift of self-reflection when they err, confidence to share their misstep with you, and above all else, the security to know that they are not a mean kid. They are having a hard time with something, and you will teach them tools to develop more appropriate responses.

Artificial snow day! ⛄️ ❄️ ⠀
Christmas is SO much more magical when you have a toddler about! 👁🧚🏻♀️✨
Literally everything about it, from the twinkling lights to the tree decorated with enticingly breakable baubles seems to
bring joy to toddlers’ tiny hearts.🎄😁🎅🏻
Get into the seasonal spirit and get creative with this incredibly easy toddler activity:⠀
Table salt 🧂 + eco-glitter ✨= magical snow salt!
Pour into a tray (ideally a high chair one so they can’t salt the entire floor), give brush (cut a bit off your tree and create a pine branch brush 🧹🌲)and let your toddler get mark making... 🖐 🤚 ⠀
Pimp up your snow:
⭐️add blue food colouring, flour, sequins, etc. to create different textures. ⭐️use a toy train/car to create snow tracks. ⭐️provide different implements (spoon, sieve) to make different marks.
Show them how to draw patterns in the salt: 🎵’big circles, little circles, wavy lines and number nines!’ 🎵
= laying the foundation for future writing skills! ✍🏻 🌀🔆✔️ #finemotorfun
Fantastically festive sensory play! ⭐️👌🏻🍰
