Living room goals AF #melaninjourney #repost @whereintheworldisb
How do I even describe this past year It's been a whirlwind to say the least. I realize this isn't normal life. The constant flying, working with brands and trying to deliver on their needs, editing content in between layovers and then coming home to curate my story in a way that's visually appealing. Well that's the pretty cool stuff.
The stuff I haven't really talked about during my travels is the selective interrogation from American custom/immigration officers where they brought me to a private room questioning why I cross into the US so much, being exorted for my US dollars by Peruvian cops for driving with my headlights off in BROAD daylight (yeah that's a real law out there) all while threatening to take my driver's license/passport and forcing me to find a bank to pay off a ticket they never even wrote up, being robbed of all of my money in Hawaii on a yacht, being pick-pocketed of my cellphone in Brazil, having a blatantly racist encounter with an Australian customs officer and coming home to a couple of driving infraction fines that was mailed to me from Italy and Australia. So much more has happened but that's just at the top of my mind.
But even with all of that, the blessings I've received this year are insurmountable! To have the ability to visit a foreign country to experience it and also attempt to beautify it through content creation is something I never planned on doing to this degree. It's kind of where my life has lead me to but it feels good to hear people leaving feedback on the work I've done to represent their country in the best possible light.
