🎉my first sewing project! Thanks to my mom, whose IMMENSE patience made this possible, not entirely sure I'm as in love with sewing as I am with knitting but I DO love this summery skirt (vintage pattern! From the 80s I think, Butterick 5896)

Tokyo or Edmonton 🤔 These beautiful blossoms always make me think of festivals, and festival season is in full swing here! From Folk Fest to Heritage Days to the Fringe, there’s no shortage of entertainment in Edmonton during the summer months. Are you hitting up any festivals this summer, either in Edmonton or elsewhere
I don't know what subculture this is but it's really cool. Do you By @jenniweer !
Awesome education seminar by Dan Scratch today at the U of A! Dan is a big proponent of Liberation education and has spent many years working at Edmonton's Inner City High School. We talked a lot about systemic inequalities in the education system and how to make our classrooms more democratic rather than authoritarian. We don't live in an authoritarian society so why should we organize our classrooms to indoctrinate children into thinking that way

We thought we would share a little education with any clients out there that might be scared of Sharing wax or getting waxed. Everything we use is brand new and clean for each client. Our Wax is the only thing used on multiple people but used by clean disinfected metal spatulas. If the client is not clean or we notice the skin is not intact we would charge extra and throw away the wax at the end.
Here is some information right from the Alberta esthetics health code standards on Waxing !
a. Reusable spatulas (e.g., metal, plastic) must be cleaned and disinfected with a low-level disinfectant after each client.
b. Disposable spatulas (e.g., wood) must be discarded after each client.
c. Any wax applied to a client shall not be reused and must be discarded. To prevent cross contamination, all wax, body sugar and cloth strips applied to a
client must be discarded.
d. Wax applied on one client with the same spatula must be applied on intact skin.
Wax in a common dipping pot may be a vehicle for disease transmission. However, the risk is remote if applied to intact skin.
