One of our clients (Gina Saksida) who used a My Word Storymaster to capture their life story shared a weirdly fond memory of going to jail (say what?)⠀⁠
⠀⁠
Back in Yugoslavia (now Croatia), Gina went to jail because she was sewing without a permit. “Back then you had to have a permit but I couldn’t afford to pay for a permit; I was not earning enough.” So the authorities told her she would have to go to jail for a couple of weeks.⠀⁠
⠀⁠
“It was actually fun because it was summer time, so it was nice to be in the shade rather than work on the farm in the hot sun”.⠀⁠
⠀⁠
Her parents offered to pay, but she said “no!”, even the policeman who took her to jail tried to force her to pay.⠀⁠

It’s ok to not be ok. You don’t always have to be positive, in fact, positivity is a myth created by people who aren’t comfortable with their own emotions, but I personally prefer those who are ok with feeling and expressing the entire range of human emotions, rather than bottling up the bad ones inside and allowing them to kill you. You are worthy. No matter what. Did you know that in chinese medicine, emotions are some of the most detrimental pathogens to physical, mental, emotional and overall health. Stuck emotions reek havoc in the body, so, it’s important to allow yourself to feel what you are feeling and to try to process them in healthy ways rather than just pretending as if everything is ok when it’s not. Remember, you are worthy, you matter, even when you’re not at your best, even when you Fuck up, even when everything feels hopeless. You still and always matter and what you feel is real and valid and you should honor whatever you are feeling so that you can move through it, and not hold onto it. Holding onto things causes Qi to stop slowing, and stagnant Qi is at the root of quite a lot of the patterns that cause health disorders in our culture. You matter. You matter so much, so don’t bear yourself up when emotions are hitting you hard, life is dumping onto you, you mess up, etc, you will@likely be ok, especially if you allow yourself to feel what you are feeling. Be easy on yourself. And never forget that you matter. One of the best ways to help with processing stuck, old or fresh emotions is acupuncture. We move that Qi! This time of year, the fall, is the time of the lung, the emotion associated with the lung is grief, so if you feel old or stuck emotions@or grief coming up right now, that’s normal and if you have access to an acupuncturist I highly recommend it as acupuncture saves my life and is integral part of my self care.

LIFE IS HEAVY! 
No one is immune to it. We have all been hurt, we all feel the pressure to perform, be perfect, be liked & it can become a burden we were not meant to carry. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Working out for me builds strength to control that helps me control my thoughts & workout emotions because when you are sick it’s hard to control anything. I blow it all the time, especially when I’m not caring for my heart, mind & body.
🙏🙏🙏 Working out builds strength so I can love & give to others even when I don’t feel like it. We are called to love. My flesh can be very selfish, especially when I become self focused &self consumed with all my worries & fears. 
If I don’t discipline my body & make it do what I command I am a slave to feelings, emotions & my past trauma. My past can tell me, don’t trust, don’t love, don’t be vulnerable because you’ll just get hurt. Yet I have a savior calling me to love others well. 
So I workout 🏋️‍♀️ to train my body to do what I tell it to do. Nothing grows without pressure. It gets uncomfortable at times but victory lies in the other side of your pain!

LIFE IS HEAVY! No one is immune to it. We have all been hurt, we all feel the pressure to perform, be perfect, be liked & it can become a burden we were not meant to carry. 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Working out for me builds strength to control that helps me control my thoughts & workout emotions because when you are sick it’s hard to control anything. I smile at the most inappropriate of things sometimes. I think a lot of us do. Like talking about a loved ones death or such, I will be smiling the whole time. It's not funny and yet the jokeresque grin will be there, my most loyal companion. 😁 Also, I speak with no shame about hard times in life. I have no need to keep up with the Jones's. Appearance keeping is not a sport I partake in. I've been through things and have picked myself up from dark gutters. I have a past and when I feel dejected I dont try to hide it, I feel it. Why fake the funk? But through all this that I feel, I never lose my humor. To think that feeling your emotions is weak is a fools thought. Feel what you feel, just don't let it control you. Duality serves its purpose.

I smile at the most inappropriate of things sometimes. I think a lot of us do. Like talking about a loved ones death or such, I will be smiling the whole time. It's not funny and yet the jokeresque grin will be there, my most loyal companion. 😁 Also, I speak with no shame about hard times in life. I have no need to keep up with the Jones's. Whenever you're experiencing painful emotions, the most helpful thing you can do for yourself is to question them.

Ask yourself why you're REALLY feeling the way you are. Ask yourself if you're REALLY seeing yourself/others as you/they really are. In other words, are you REALLY seeing clearly right now?

Maybe entertain the idea that you're not seeing clearly. Maybe you're seeing your present circumstance through the lense of your past hurts and current beliefs, which we ALL innocently do.

When you're totally honest with yourself and willing to see differently, i.e. clearly, you will feel relieved and at peace.

It may take some time, but not long. If you stay with your feelings and keep questioning them, it speeds things up. You will feel at peace much sooner if you stick with yourself. DO NOT give up. You are worth it!! 💖🙏

The Other Side by Kim Holden blew me away, when I finished it, I had a smile on my face and tears in my eyes. The books gives a very important message, it deals with depression and shows us the warmth of love.

Tough times /dark days never last forever! The proof is in the pudding of how my skin has improved. Just remember there is always light at the end of the tunnel and keep your head up. I think it’s always so important to remember who you are. A few tips that helped me get through... 1) Establish a routine. Even if you have no plan for the day have a routine, get up, shower/bath earlier on in the day make a plan or set a goal, something you wish to achieve that day even if it seems like the smallest of tasks, cleaning, rearranging, laundry, something to engage you, to be productive. 
2) Get out, each and every single day ensure you leave the house. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut and find that you really haven’t done much at all throughout the day. It’s always nice to get some fresh air so possibly a walk in the open air, a park/lake or something. If not, possibly cycling, skating just something to keep you active and appreciate your surroundings rather than sitting in doom and gloom.

3) Eat, eat, eat! When you have no routine you may find that time passes so very quickly... Before you know it, it’s 6pm and the only meal you end up having is dinner. Try NOT to do this, nourishment and a good diet is vital for each and every single person in this world. So make sure you don’t miss any meals.

4) Get up and get dressed. How you look can indeed represent how you feel. Make an effort, no matter how light or elaborate that may be to you. I hate make up but I made sure I did my brows, put some lipstick on and tied a cute headscarf. 
5) Remember WHO YOU ARE! Try and do things that you enjoy. Meet with friends and family even if you don’t tell them exactly what is going on. Just being around good company does wonders for your wellbeing. Also participate in activities you enjoy, things that make you you. Push yourself and get involved. 💕
