Today was easy, recovery run and my legs surely needed it. Run was going fine until last few minutes when I started to not feel well. Maybe coffee and empty stomach don’t pair well, not sure what made me feel so sick. Didn’t get in my usual weight workout as well, but tomorrow’s another day. I finally used lifting straps for my RDLs........ OMG what a difference!!!!!! Like I knew they would help but I didn’t think it would be so much. They completely took focus off my hands and really helped me focus on my form and time under tension.
.
Needless to say I’m stoked 😆 definitely going to be using them for the super heavy and technical stuff.

If you haven’t tried them before I’m telling you they will change your life!!!!!!

Had my mind blown this morning 🤯 . I finally used lifting straps for my RDLs........ OMG what a difference!!!!!! Like I knew they would help but I didn’t think it would be so much. They completely took focus off my hands and really helped me focus on my form and time under tension. . My answer? BOTH, but heavily favoring strength training. Here's why ⬇️

Cardio is great for increasing lung capacity, muscular endurance & burning calories DURING the workout. BUT it also strips you of muscle if you do it for long periods of time, and it typically puts a lot of pressure on joints and ligaments. Also, even though you probably burn more calories DURING a cardio workout, you burn none as soon as you stop. Now here's why I favor strength training and implement it with everyone I train.⬇️

Strength training will help increase your lung capacity, and muscular endurance just like cardio. But instead of stripping lean muscle away from you, it'll add lean muscle, strengthen bone, ligament & tendon tissue and more. Plus, and this is 🔑, you burn calories DAYS after a strength workout, because your body is not working to rebuild the torn down muscle! So prioritize strength training, but leave SOME room for cardio of some kind!

Some of you have asked me what my workout plan is😊. I basically jog around to do errands then these days I've been working out in the backyard once or twice a week with: -Jump squats from one end of the backyard to the other
-Planking jump abs
-High Knees
-Backwards plank with weights in hand -Burpees

I push myself till I'm satisfied but doing the number of reps as your age number is good to go by to start. So for example, I'll do 31 burpees to start then build up from there. It's also nice when you put on a song and do a variety of ab exercises on the mat. Putting on a song to burpees also makes it go by faster. 
Checkout my food page on IG to see what I eat: @whatieat1998 🍲🥙 Sometimes I eat out but a lot of times it's food I made at home. Sometimes if I burned a lot of calories and am not trying to lose anymore weight then I have the luxury to eat it back. 
The way our body looks fluctuates so exercise is something to maintain because a few days without it and I will lose tone and shape.

If you are trying to lose weight then it is important to eat healthy or else your workout will not count. This was a reason why my body did not get desired results for many years even while exercising a lot.

So this lunatic @obi_vincent has some of the craziest conditioning workouts on his page. Every now and again, usually when it’s a full moon, I give one of them a go. Here’s some video of me grinding through a 3 part, relatively simple but demanding complex...and it’s a ladder series, so the reps start at 15,14,13,12,11........3,2,1. I used the 60lb dumbbells for the last 13 (used 40 and 50lbs to warm up for the first 2). I left a puddle of sweat on the floor and what I swear is my immortal soul floating above the dumbbell rack.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - This class features well-known fundamental routines that will make you brek a sweat. Add a bajan saying or some folklore to ensure a few laughs along the way!

The routines used in each class are demonstrated at the beginning during the warm-up up phase.
$20 per 1 hour session

 There was a time I didn't feel strong or healthy I felt tired, and I felt weak, and I felt helpless, I felt like I was confused about how to better my health. I didn't know if there would ever be a solution to me getting all the extra weight off.

 I have always been a happy person and have learned to be good in whatever situation I was in I'm one that could always see the bright side to whatever I was going through! .

I was looking for old photos of James and came across this one of me from April 2017 (left). Photo on the right is from June 2019. It’s taken a lot of early mornings, struggling to get my butt to the gym and learning a lot about who I am. 
I’ve met some incredible people along the way and I’ve had to disconnect from people that didn’t support my active lifestyle. 😬 I’ve learned what foods trigger my #psoriaticarthritis and how to avoid flare ups. I was thinking back to when I first became diagnosed with arthritis and the severe pain that I was in 24/7. I literally could not move and would just stand there crying because I couldn’t do anything...it hurt to move. 👎

I am more active and fit than I’ve ever been. I’ve discovered things that I enjoy doing... like flipping tires.... as well as running. 🏃‍♀️💪 Show up...do the work. I was looking for old photos of James and came across this one of me from April 2017 (left). Photo on the right is from June 2019. Rey is a key player for the bengals special teams and linebacker corps but he mainly played on special teams last season. He started 2 games for the bengals last season and he could add some veteran presence since he’s played in the AFC north his entire NFL career. It wouldn’t hurt picking him up in my opinion. Thoughts?
