Photos taken18 months apart.
I always believed that looking like the picture on the right was something only people who spent their life in the gym could achieve. Not 'normal' people like me. Not people who had kids, worked full time, people who like a glass of red wine and a square or two of chocolate. Not possible for people who sit at an office job for some 45 hours a week or more. People over the age of 40. 
I 100% believed it wasn't possible for me. 
BUT (and the reason for sharing these pictures) I'm hoping this proves it really is possible for anyone. 
No miracles. No huge changes. No massive sacrifice. Just the right support, encouragement, direction, focus and commitment to consistent training and healthy eating on my part. 
If you want to, you can do it too. It's never too late. I like to stretch in the mornings to maintain my flexibility. But sometimes I will add a second stretching session in the evening if I've had a particularly strenuous day as it helps me to relax and unwind 😊😌 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope all of you are incorporating stretching into your training programme as not stretching can increase the risk of injury, hinder progression and have a deleterious effect on posture. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dynamic stretches are great for warming up whilst static stetches are best for cooling down.

For a short hike with a lovely spring view, check out Blue Springs. Start at the Thursby House parking lot and walk toward the river, then u-turn and walk the board walk down to the boil. Trip length: 1 mile round trip/ 30-45mins.⁠

Its recommended to visit during the least crowded times to visit, usually late afternoons on a week day. Averaging half-a-million visitors annually, Blue Springs is often overfull with guests. I’m pretty sure you’ve heard this countless times: “grip the bar at its widest to develop a wide back.” ⁣

✅Muscles grow as a response to a continuous & progressive stimulus induced by training, fueled by proper nutrition. ⁣
⁣
As long as the stimulus is the "right one" meaning that it is actually targeting the muscles you’re looking to develop by fully contracting them, at a slow enough speed through a high enough tension, they will grow. And by “growth” you get both: thickness & width (although yes, lats & teres major contribute to overall width of the back).⁣

And that obviously, because a narrower grip allows for better technique & ROM, which seems to have a greater impact on not only lats, but also trap & infraspinatus muscles as well.⁣

As a result you’ll get a bro-spotter to help you out with your struggling reps, some shoulder pain, and probably zero back development. 🤷🏻‍♂️⁣

2. There is so much progression and variety with weight training. Where as, with running, what’s your progression? You can run a little faster. It just isn’t the same.

3. Weights boost your energy levels and stamina. You won’t be no where as tired through the day when lifting weights.

4. Weights decrease the risk of injury. Lifting helps strengthen tendons and ligaments. 
5. Lower the risk of osteoporosis. Weight training will help strengthen and keep your bones healthy and strong.

6. Heard people say about the after burn effect of weight training? This is because lifting increases EPOC (Excessive post exercise oxygen consumption) meaning after doing anything your body wants to return back to a natural balance, called homeostasis. So after lifting your body has to work harder to get back to balance. Resulting in your body using more energy, which burns more calories for up to 48 hours after your session.

7. Your metabolic rate will rise. For every pound of lean muscle mass you gain, you burn an extra 50 calories per day.

8. Lifting weights sculpts your body. Cardio alone will just leave you looking skinny. I know women want to have shape, not be skinny.

After reading this I hope you won’t continue to shy after from weights ladies. Stop listening to myths like ‘weights make you bulky’ because they don’t. You haven’t got the testosterone men have, so you won’t be able to grow the muscle you have this perception on.

Cardio/HIIT alone can be boring, it will leave you with poor mobility and flexibility. You will have under developed muscles ie weak glutes which will lead to lower back pain. Poor posture, rounded shoulders.

When you start lifting weights, you will never go back to cardio again, I promise.

Going into winter my level is in range, and I'm trying to keep it there with fermented cod liver oil capsules. 😍🤨 Get tested, and supplement if you need to. @medichecks is a good resource in the UK.
