"I simply want to be remembered as a great teammate and an even better teammate." I enjoy being a good solo athlete but I take pride in being an even better team athlete.
I had the pleasure of serving with some of the finest heroes in the country the last week and a half. Chief Joe Downey, FDNY Special Operations Command is a gifted leader. He and his team deployed on the 17th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks; of which his father, an FDNY Deputy Chief was killed . His story is heartbreaking and heroic. Joe and his brother spent days looking for their father.
It makes you feel small and ashamed for complaining about the little things.

@555thewildthing with @repostsaveapp ・・・ When you casually take on a competition to gauge where you need to improve and you PR your hang clean at 315lbs and finish 2nd Overrall. Not a bad day, my partner @kingkaitv absolutely crushed it. See you in December kiddo!!!! Not a bad first competition under the @igotyour6nyc banner!
To clarify 1 round consists of the run and 3 Rounds of Cindy. Some love for our Brothers in NYC DOC!! THE BOLDEST!
This is my late 9/11 post, because by now everyone already forgot. Your theory on what happened that day is irrelevant, people died, a lot of them. Many men and women that day proved they had more courage than anyone can imagine as they selflessly gave their lives while saving countless others. But 9/11 was one of the last times in recent history that we came together as a country. Today we are divided, ready to fall like a house of cards. As Lincoln is famously quoted saying “a house divided cannot stand”. We are closer to the collapse of this country because rather than work out our differences we rather hurt and kill each other. All while at the same time we slowly but continually remove the human aspect in our children resulting in the madness we see today: high occurrence of mass murder, high rate of suicide, and a ton of mental health issues that can be attributed to substance abuse because we rather medicate problems with drugs and only further kill us. Its a time people took a step back, but all the bullshit aside, and push forward to actually making THE United States of America greater than it has ever been! But first we must all move past the race baiting, past the religions and sexual preferences of others and minding our own business while also holding out government accountable and holding them to the boundaries set by the US Constitution! That is all. Good night! #rant #september11 #9eleven #343 #fdny #nypd #papd #merica
There were three issues that made this Bronx fire challenging: 1. Fire was found two floors below the original fire apartment. 2. Fire extended to the floor above the original fire apartment. 3. Fire was visible from the exterior, leaping from one window on the third floor (original fire floor). I think Nike should go in this direction. Real heroes. Lieutenant Gies who lived a couple blocks from me as a kid. Left behind his wife and 3 sons. To help others. #neverforget #fdny #nike
Lt. Ronnie E. Gies was assigned to Engine 14 in Manhattan in 1988 after Probie School; he later moved on to Engine 308 in Richmond Hill and in 1990 took his career to the Special Operations Company of Squad 288 in Maspeth‚ Queens. On September 10‚ 2001‚ he was promoted to the office of Lieutenant‚ which he wanted and studied for so hard.
A retired #FDNY firefighter has died from cancer linked to his time at #GroundZero after 9/11. John Elges was cited three times for bravery during his 24 years as a New York City firefighter before he retired in 2009. Rest in peace and thank you for your sacrifice.
