Your mind and perception plays a huge role on whether performance is optimal. This applies to sports like rugby all the way back to the weights room and even largely plays a role in rehab.

Put it simply, you need to develop confidence when approaching the bar otherwise donโ€™t approach it...yet.

In rehab we can naturally build this confidence through education and slowly graded exposure to alternative exercises to the one deemed unsafe or risky to the patient.

When it comes to barbell sports and becoming stronger, this confidence needs to be developed more from within the individual. Submaximal training needs to be treated with the same attention as going for your new Pb, otherwise when that new PB is laying in front of you waiting to be lifted, you will either go one or two ways of the optimal arousal curve (swipe left). .

Did some bench and deads tonight. Decided to just have some fun and see if I was still a mediocre Powerlifter. Also tried out a new @zonesmellingsalts dry activated ammonia and that fueled me tonight. Pulled 325 top single โžก๏ธ 315 for 3 singles. Bench 155 top single โžก๏ธ 150x2. Sorry @thebiggestdong I might have sandbagged my lifts again tonight. God was my spotter. โœŒ๐Ÿผ
