The picture on my left wasn’t even me at my heaviest but it’s crazy to look back and think about this weekend at UCLA! I was in so much pain from walking around the campus. I was wearing my black tank top that “hid” everything. I remember this October of 2017 feeling suffocated under my own skin. I started dealing with high blood pressure for the first time ever! I felt overall terrible. Weeks later I saw my doctor and got my referral for the Gastric Bypass and from that moment I decided to take control of my health. Over a year later, I’ve lost 150 pounds and traveled all across Chicago on foot last weekend PAIN FREE! After losing weight, it’s life experiences like these that make is SO worth it. 🙌🏻

We are chatting battle ropes today! I have a love-hate relationship with these bad boys. You know those people that make them look so effortless? Yeah, well they’re not! 🤣 But, they are most definitely effective. .
Battle ropes are awesome for a short and effective full body functional workout, or you can add them onto the end of a workout for a killer finisher. They work your core, back, shoulders, biceps, triceps, chest, legs — yep, basically the entire body! Not to mention, they get your heart rate up like WHOA so you’re burning some awesome calories and getting your heart workin’.

There are several different ways to use the battle ropes, but today I am addressing the classic battle rope waves. Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you do them:
.
1. Sit your hips back and down into a half squat position. This gives you a solid foundation and helps work your legs too!

2. Brace your core. This works your core and provides stability.

3. Tuck your elbows in close to the body. This helps target the shoulders and back muscles, as well as makes the wave-like motion in the ropes.

4. Raise and lower each arm explosively to help work each arm independently.

Mirror pics are hard lol I feel like I need to use a tripod or something and my phone kept slipping. The pics are either too far, too close (can't see from.my calf down) or blurry lol. So for now here's a selfie. What are some of your tips?! Good news though... I meal prepped last night and was able to get my bfast and lunch done today, still working on my water intake. A very old school @fitgirlsguide manta was “ALWAYS TAKE THE STAIRS” ( #atts , natch💁🏻‍♀️). So that is what I intend on doing this round - taking the damn stairs more! I work on the sixth floor, 120 or so steps up, and I am going to try to ascend those suckers at least twice a day!! 2. White workout pants in a size S! Woot woot! They fit (again...they stretch) but I would like for them to fit a little better so this round I’m going to focus on.... {see goal heart section}

1. Learn to take an actual rest day so I don’t burn out like previous challenges

2. Focus on how I feel and look instead of #s on the scale

Meet SHP Academy client Stephanie🤗!

Before Stephanie joined the 𝐒𝐇𝐏 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲, she has been trying to lose weight for years... She tried keto and weight watchers. The weight would come off but nothing every lasted. This yo yo-ing really impacted her mood, job, her self esteem and her relationships.

Before the 𝐒𝐇𝐏 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲, she was VERY skeptical. Nothing worked for her and she didn't want to try another program that didn't work (TOTALLY understand.. it's FRUSTRATING!!!). However Stephanie KNEW she needed to make a change. She no longer wanted to feel frustrated and moody.

She was also experiencing some lower back pain & realized that her health couldn't wait. It was time to make a change NOW.

She said:

As much as I love seeing the pounds come off on the scale, I’m more happy that my mood has improved, I have take more time for myself, I’m sleeping better at night and I am more active than I have ever been. And I am consistent!

Lorna is so supportive, helpful and knowledgeable! Her passion for what she does really shines through in everything she does.

I’m really thankful to her and to this program for giving me the tips, and tools I need to succeed but also the confidence in myself.
