One of the good things about having friends and people that care in your corner is the fact they are real and will call you out when needed...got a text from one of my cirlce last night that asked if i was hurt because they hadn't "seen me under a barbell or dumbbells in awhile" got me to thinking...man they are right...Ive got these good genetics that allow me to go in and move meh weight and a meh tempo and I get results and I start to get in the habbit of not getting under the nitty gritty and work hard....so tonight was the first time under 405lbs squatting since before my knee replacement 6 years ago ...i know its not your traditional squat and its not as deep as some...but im working with what ive got mobility wise

You can make excuses and not do it or you can make the adjustments needed and press on...the choice is yours

It’s common to see all over social media and online people claiming to gain substantial amounts of muscle in short time periods. You see magazines in stores claiming you’ll build 20lbs of muscle in a couple months. As much as I want it to be, that’s simply as far from the truth as possible.

Let’s take a look at a few studies where they had groups of untrained females where they measured lean body mass over a 8 a week period.
.
.
Cholewa et al, saw an average of 1.5kg/3.3lbs of Lean body mass gain in 8 weeks.
.
.
In the study Benton et al, the women gained of 1.4kg/3.1lbs on average between high protein and low protein diets.
.
.
Studies tend to show the more trained the individual the less lean mass they develop over time.
.
.
Now when you look at studies measuring lean body mass over a year, average rates of muscle gain are about 16lbs/7.3kg for men and about 11lbs/5kg for females.
.
.
Men can expect to gain around 0.35lbs per week in the first year of training, and woman can expect to gain about 0.23lbs a week.
.
.
Conclusion: Muscle gain seems to grow at the fastest rate in the first year of training, with it slowing down even in the first year of weightlifting. Every year with optimal resistance exercises, muscle growth rate slows significant (40% +).

Happiness is an inside job. I tend to be more on the pessimistic side sometimes, so I have to remind myself of that... Have to kick that "stinking thinking" to the curb pretty frequently. Perception creates our reality. If we change our perception, we can change our lives. This includes our perception of ourselves and what we're capable of. It's easy to fall into a trap that can keep us from progressing until we shift our perception to believing that we are capable of more. Happiness is such an important inside job. We owe it to ourselves and the people we love to put in the work.
