We all know that New Year’ resolutions are generally a total waste of time and clearly none of us need to wait until December 31st to make decisions about how we want to live our lives. But the ticking over of a new year, and indeed a new decade, can make us think about what we’ve achieved and how we want our lives to look like moving forwards.
So (even in the midst of the Christmas chaos!) this can be a really good time to consider questions such as ‘is this the direction I want to be moving in’ and ‘are my choices helping my happiness’ Letting go of things in our lives that don’t serve us anymore can be a really difficult process. There will always be doubts. We may have to step well outside of our comfort zone and deal with some very uncomfortable thoughts and feelings. Often it would be much easier in the short term to just carry on as we are. We say we want to be happy and yet we often repeat the causes of our suffering over and over again! Because these things are habits, they are within easy reach, they make us feel better in the short term, they soothe in the instant but each time add a tiny layer of unhappiness.
It could be something as seemingly innocent as our daily food and drink habits, something unobvious like a toxic friendship or something that affects almost every waking hour such as being in a job we hate.
Overnight change is unlikely. But we can adjust our lives to improve them. And the first step is usually changing how we think about things.

Slept through my run this morning. And my workout yesterday. 🤷 Woops. Sometimes, things don't go as planned, and that's ok. I buckled down and did two workouts today (even with allllll the puppy distractions)! You don't fail from making a mistake, you fail if you quit. WOW!!! What a way to start Sunday! In less than 24hrs $1200 was donated to help Ash and her family and we have close to $500 cash for Ash at the shop. I spoke to Ash and her husband Raun this morning and they were beyond grateful for this support! Pretty darn amazing guys. Ash is improving slowly, going in for CT scan today, fingers crossed for those results to come back rosy and Ash can work towards getting out of hospital and spending Christmas with the family and healing after surgery. 🎄 fingers crossed.🤞 Thanks for all the well wishes and support.
