The @goldhouseco family is excited to announce it’s moving #GoldOpen into Phase 2 - expanding with the creation of an Advisory Council, a #GoldenRider, and an ever growing slate of films. From Crazy Rich Asians, Searching, Abominable, Burning, Blinded By The Light, The Farewell, and Parasite to partner openings for Just Mercy and Queen and Slim, to even more in 2020.
Our partners keep growing from every major theater chain, to sponsor brands, from our press network to mission aligned family members like @cape_usa and @a3foundationorg.
@birdsofprey is coming up next, the first superhero film in history to be directed by an Asian woman @cathyyan not to mention the cast and writer @christinahodson.
We are here for the New Majority and the Goldhouse collective is at work across other major dimensions in addition to the arts, from consumer products and startups to the coming Census count. 2020 let’s goooo.
Today, #GoldOpen is announcing its next phase with our first Advisory Council and Golden Rider. The #GoldOpen Advisory Council is comprised of festival directors, leading publication editors and journalists, and studio chiefs to inform and influence which films receive a #GoldOpen. Once selected, the Golden Rider is an educational clause whose agreement secures a film's #GoldOpen, which has now become a substantial promotional movement to ensure the opening weekend success of multicultural films. Films must be feature-length and distributed theatrically for at least one month to be considered. Of course, we hope to expand to other creative formats to support even more incredible creative work over time. Submit your project now at goldopen.com! 🙆🏻♀️🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♀️🙆🏻♂️
Since creating the modern version of #GoldOpen for Crazy Rich Asians 1.5 years ago, the #GoldOpen community has supported more than a dozen Asian-led and multicultural films, secured partnerships to streamline buying with the three largest theatrical chains in the country (AMC, Regal, Landmark), initiated a slate of new rituals, and grown in partnership with incredible groups like @cape_usa. But we’ve only just begun—Asians still only represent only 1% of lead roles and 4.8% of speaking roles in Hollywood films. Only one actor of Asian heritage has ever won an Academy Award for best actor. And only Twelve actors of Asian descent have ever received nominations from the Academy — almost all for supporting roles. Let’s open!

“The true measure of our character is how we treat the poor, the disfavored, the accused, the incarcerated, and the condemned.” - Bryan Stevenson
So honored to see a #GoldOpen screening tonight with special guest, Ryan Coogler (a Yay Area native, director of Fruitvale Station and Black Panther).
Please go out and support this film. It’s definitely a must-see film based on the work of civil rights leader Bryan Stevenson. Plus, it’s directed by our friend @destindaniel who is also about to direct Shang-Chi.

🎉Congratulations to @awkwafina for winning the Golden Globe for lead actress in a musical or comedy, a recognition for her distinctive performance in “The Farewell”. In doing so, Awkwafina became the first women of Asian descent to win in this category. While all credit goes to Awkwafina, Nomz was delighted to collaborate with @goldhouseco to spread awareness of this wonderful movie about family, culture and transition through several #GoldOpen screenings. From youtube videos to leading actress, Awkwafina is an inspiration and reminder – consistent, perhaps seemingly small-minded efforts and persistence can culminate into something groundbreaking. Go see this historic performance and movie (again)! #thefarewell #goldenglobes #goldenglobes2020 #asam
