Happy Monday morning everyone! I took a timeout for myself yesterday allowing rest after treatment Saturday...much needed. That means I have no food prepped for this week but luckily with the help of the slow cooker and instant pot I will have plenty of food by the end of the day!! I’ve never been a big beer drinker but it’s a different story when it comes to hard ciders. Apple, pear, rosé, etc ciders I’ve come to enjoy especially those made by @angryorchard. Their line of ciders are crispy, refreshing and tasty so naturally I had to visit their brewery since it’s a mere 2 hour drive from my home. They offer guided and self guided tours, free samples, live music, outdoor games, board games and food trucks - most of which are free and who doesn’t love free Highly recommend as a summer or fall day trip for the beer and cider lovers out there! 🍎🍏🍻

New to Citi Field in 2019, Emmy Squared is absolutely knocking it out of the park with their Le Big Matt Burger! Two Pat LaFrieda beef patties, American cheese, their special Sammy sauce, leafy greens and sweet pickles - all on a pretzel bun. Simply delicious! 🍔
Finally a new Mexican 🇲🇽 restaurant in the Whitestone/Bayside/Flushing area! I’ve been waiting for one to open because the neighborhood has been seriously lacking (yes, I know El Patron is on Northern but their food is overpriced and way below average). Located on Clintonville Street in Whitestone, Taco Azul offers a pretty classic take on traditional Mexican cuisine. The restaurant itself is small but cozy; I went on a Saturday afternoon and didn’t have to wait more than five minutes to be seated. Service was pretty quick and the staff was certainly pleasant to deal with. We started with the Elote 🌽 ($4) and the Passionfruit Shrimp Ceviche 🦐($12), both solid dishes especially considering the price. The ceviche surprised me because I’m used to more lime-y and spicy renditions while this one was on the sweeter side. Also, the portion was quite large and could serve as an entire meal for one person. Kudos to them on the portion size especially since its seafood. Tacos wise we ordered the Al Pastor 🍍, Chorizo, Baja Fish 🐟, Camaron and the Grilled Fish 🐠, which ranged from $3.75 to $4 per. Fairly priced in comparison to other taco spots. The two fish tacos were my favorite, the fish was expertly cooked and the toppings lent well to the protein. A close runner up was the chorizo taco which offered a nice spice kick without adding any of their 4 house sauces. My one critique is that they don’t serve alcohol because I love an ice cold margarita with my tacos. Hopefully they lock in a liquor license sooner than later but they’re most certainly off to a good start food wise! 🌮
