Where love lives | Motion Graphics | 18.02.2019 | Sound on 🔈 | I decided to work on a series of songs that shaped me. Where love lives by @alison_limerick was one of those. I first discovered this one in the late 90s and have been jamming to it ever since. One of the classics of my childhood and an absolute banger!

“... they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)
The troubles of yesterday are behind. Let us forge ahead, equipped with a fresh supply of God’s mercies for today.
The standard practice in the milk industry is to take away the calfs from their mothers after birth. Because we want the milk for us.
Some people would argue that their is a better way to exploit those beautiful animals. That they should keep their kids and live a happy life. But is it really a happy life Imagine you where in their situation. Seen as property and be used for your body fluids. Being bred to produce enormous amounts of milk. Being bred to be a milk machine. Being killed when you don't produce enough of it. Ending up on a plate by a human that easily could have chosen a plant-based option.
It's unnecessary. Animals belong to themselves. They are not our to use. They are not products. They are sentient beings.
Happy President’s Day! 🇺🇸🎉
In honor of today, here are some fun facts I found while searching Google for my kiddos:
President’s Day was first celebrated in 1885 in honor of George Washington’s Birthday on February 22nd. In 1971, the Uniform Monday Holiday Act was passed and the holiday was set on the 3rd Monday of February. The Act was an initiative to give workers more 3-day weekends. 🤯
Abraham Lincoln’s birthday is February 12th. 🎂
George Washington was the only president unanimously elected. 🗳
John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on the same day: July 4, 1826. It was the 50th anniversary of the approval of the Declaration of Independence. ✨
James Madison and Thomas Jefferson are the only presidents who signed the Constitution. ✍🏼
Franklin D. Roosevelt was the 1st president to appear on television during a 1939 broadcast from the World's Fair. 📺
The “S” in Harry S. Truman doesn’t stand for anything. 🤯
Martin Van Buren was the first president to be born as a citizen of the United States. The ones before him were born British. 🇺🇸
John Tyler had 15 children! 🧸
James Polk was the first president to have his picture taken while in office. 📸
William Henry Harrison gave his inauguration speech in the rain. He caught a cold and died just 32 days into office. 🤧
Franklin D. Roosevelt met President Grover Cleveland when he was five years old. Cleveland said "I am making a wish for you. It is that you may never become president of the United States". 🤔
I always liked learning the random, trivia-type info instead of just reading the cookie cutter lessons in history books! So, there ya go! Got any random facts to share Post them in the comments!!
“The thing about Manchester is it all comes from the heart” This piece is inspired by a quote from an interview with @noelthegoodrebelofficial in the 90s. I have experimented with watercolours and think the contrast between the soft watercolour paint and the bold, more severe typeface works really well. I’ll have the original and prints with me at @altymarket next weekend and it will also be up on the website soon. I’ve got a whole series of these pieces planned that are inspired by quotes about different locations.
Beautiful trip to edinburgh last november when my loved one was there to study abroad. Enjoyed it so much and the weather was surprisingly nice this time! 🙈
When’s the last time you thought something negative about yourself Maybe you’re even currently doing it as you scroll through Instagram and compare to everyone else’s “perfect” work or life 🙋🏼♀️ It’s hard to separate yourself from your thoughts, with them being so deeply embedded in your mind. But it can be incredibly freeing to realize that you are not your thoughts. Your thoughts are the product of a brain that’s wired for survival - which ironically can sometimes be a detriment to well-being in the modern age! Next time something negative pops in your head, try giving it the old “boi, bye 👋🏼” and letting it pass without engaging or attaching emotion and see how it feels 😌
Great reminder and great practice with @stefankunz’s #halfbakedsketches. Swipe 👉🏻to see those tiny yummy texture details 👌🏻
In essentials, unity.
In non essentials, liberty,
In all things, charity.
Another amazing weekend playing on the worship band at @crosspointwi, with an amazing sermon about the core of Christian belief, finishing out the sermon time with this new song, Driven by Love, as a reminder to center all we do on the love of Christ to those around us. So thankful for this amazing community and close friendships. Happy Monday!
A little reminder to take time to ✨ do what you love ✨ today. Still figuring out @procreate, but I'm getting there!!
We’re all doing the best we can 🌟
I love this quote by MLK. I think it’s important to remember this in a nation that’s so quick to divide along party lines. In these 24 hour news cycles of outrage and reactions it’s easy to forget that we still live in the most free country in the world. And we’ve helped countless countries in our fight for human rights around the globe. What a great privilege it is to be born in a country that values freedom above all else.

For day 17 of #letteringselfcare
I know I’m a day late to post this, BUT this quote is especially meaningful to me so I wanted to post it regardless. 6 years ago, I was going through an especially dark and difficult time in my life. I was severely depressed and was having suicidal thoughts almost on a daily basis. On really bad days I couldn’t get out of bed or even eat, and my boyfriend at the time (who is now my husband) would have to drive 2 hours just to be by my side, force feed me, and make sure I was ok. I had just gone through a traumatic experience but hadn’t yet been diagnosed with PTSD, and at the time I hadn’t really processed or come to terms with my trauma yet. I had lost the will to live, and truly believed that ending my life was the only way to get rid of the pain.
It was during this period of rock bottom that I stumbled upon this quote. I remember it was late at night and I was mindlessly scrolling through social media to numb the pain, and there it was - a glimmer of hope. Something inside me pulled me to get out of bed and to start lettering this quote. At the time I had never heard of the word “hand lettering” and didn’t know it was even a thing that people did. All I knew was that lettering this quote soothed me and brought me comfort, peace, and a teeny ray of joy into my life.
This is why I started lettering and this is why I continue to letter today - it’s a form of therapy for me. There’s something about creating with my hands and writing words that bring me hope and joy that is especially soothing to my soul. Not only that, but hand lettering has connected me with a beautiful community here on Instagram for which I am eternally grateful. Hearing your stories, getting to know all of you, and knowing that I am not alone in my struggles - all of this has helped me to keep going even through the dark times.
