My thoughtful dad bought me this book at comic con. 😱😱😍😍🤯🤯 I am sharing it because the program I am starting in the Fall is Leadership Studies. It has been a challenge to articulate why I chose this pathway. What is Leadership anyway As I have seen the work of fellow students, it can mean so many things.
For me it means finding ways to support young people and women in effectively, sustainably, and transformatively self organize and create impactful change in the spaces that are presently available. Using the platforms and tools for communication that are most relevant today and in the changing world of the future.
I have a lot to learn so it’s hard to articulate more. But I think I might have imagined I would create works like this.
One unexpected opportunity on this front is a new position I will have next year. I am the graduate assistant in launching the Restorative Justice Center at USD in the school of Leadership and Education. Already a mind blowing opportunity I have not wrapped my head around.
Anyways, long post. But when my dad handed me this book it was like, “yes. This is it.” #feministwriter #newartist #femcritical #feministart #feminist #womensart #upandcomingartist #phd #gradschool #mentalhealth #migraine #usd #summer #sandiego #restorativejustice #communityorganizing #activism
Trying something new! Here’s the intro to my most recent YouTube video on How to Ask Good Questions in Academic Contexts. Think conferences, classes, seminars, etc. Many of the tips are also transferable to numerous professional environments.
If this topic interests you, check out the link in my bio to watch the rest of the video, which is housed on my relatively new YouTube channel.
What do you think of the idea of posting teaser clips on Instagram Is it helpful E.g., do you think it helps folks to better understand if a longer video might be of interest
I also plan to do some more filming in the upcoming weeks. If you have any suggestions for topics or questions I might explore and answer, please send them my way either in the comments or through DM.
Thanks so much to everyone who has supported this project thus far. It wouldn’t be what it is without community.

Week ✌️ complete! ✅ Wowzers! When everyone says PA School feels like you’re drinking from a fire hose they weren’t exaggerating! 🤯 It has definitely been a whirl wind. Everyone also said you’ll have to adjust your study habits from undergrad - that’s pretty accurate too! .
There is simply not enough time to make quizlets/flash cards or rewrite my notes like I used to. ⏰ Instead, we’ve formed a small study group to talk out loud about each lecture and to quiz each other. 🤓 It seems to be working so far but we will find out for sure on Monday when we have our first exam! 🙏
Super excited to announce that I’ll be starting my master’s degree in marketing analytics at American University (online) in October! It’ll be a challenge to study and work full time, but I’m up for it 🙂. #college #backtoschool #gradschool #mastersdegree
30+hrs of travel, 3 cities. The past 10 days have been incredible. ...
I spent some quality time with friends, saw Burlington for the first time (despite living only a few hours away!) and best of all, I became a reader at the Folger library, where I had the pleasure of meeting a group of fellow grad students who were utterly brilliant and passionate about what they do and.
Being in such a welcoming and intellectually generous community reminded me of why I love being in academia. I also held a 1688 & 1695 ed. of Paradise Lost, a 1697 ed of Order and Disorder, 1633 ed of Donne’s poetry, and other rare texts, and each time I held these or read a line of poetry I was overwhelmed with joy. Thank you to all those who made it possible. I am the happiest person on earth right now. 😁🥰

Wake up at four AM, make yourself a coffee, grab your camera, and walk the streets of the city. This is one of my favorite travel habits - seeing a place without crowds, watching how a city wakes up, photographing the early morning light. It’s worth it - I promise.
Researchers at @uofpenn have recently published a study showing that soothing music may be as effective as some preoperative medications that calm nerves. Prior to surgery, patients begin to feel anxiety and stress. Stress is known to increase the amount of cortisol in the bloodstream, leading to irregular blood sugar levels, inflammation and high blood pressure. These variables can highly impact sedatives that are normally used in the surgery room to help reduce the effects of stress. Scientists ran clinical studies on patients that were given soothing music to listen to before surgery and no sedatives vs. patients that received a sedative and no music. It was shown that there were no significant differences in how patients felt between the two groups, suggesting that music can be used as a medicine to reduce stress preoperatively without the negative side effects of sedatives.

Why does graduation means so much 🎓🎓🎓 Because it means that the hard work, the effort, the sleepless nights, the stress, the motivation, the passion, the pain, the hope, the struggle, the need for more, the thirst for knowledge, the contribution, the agony and the ecstasy, are RECOGNISED! Because it means that YOU MADE IT to the end of the race (more like a marathon actually). Because it means YOU ARE WORTH your degree. 😀😎🤓🎉🎊
Last week it was graduation week here in Sheffield, for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. All week we got to see happy graduates in their gowns and their friends/families trying to capture their joy with all sort of poses in every possible university landmark. Can't blame them, I will be doing the same when my time comes 😅🙊😇.
Having graduated my undergraduate degree and my master's, I am looking so very forward to completing my collection with my PhD graduation. It feels like the road to obtain a PhD is rockier than in the previous cases, as a PhD is also a personal journey which re-shapes you in every possible way, whether you want it or not. Being at the finishing line makes me that much more excited for what's to come after it. Can't wait to get to this day where I ll be as happy as my Dr. and every other graduate! .
Well done to all of the graduates, hope you put the newly acquainted degrees in good use (whatever that means to everyone)! 👏💪✌️🎓💯 #gradschool #graduate #graduation #happyface #welldone #phdlife #endofanera #congratulations #worthit #gradstudent #education #instahappy #scientistswhoselfie #researcher #research #scientist #friends #mypeople #igers #sheffcity #sheffunilife #sheffieldissuper #university #selfie #proud #mydr #menext #goals #lookingforward #withaphd
June 28, 2019. Nieed ended up postponing the “official” announcement date for GKS-G 2019. We were all a bit anxious, except for myself really. The last announcement isn’t meant to eliminate, but rather to post correct information regarding a selectee’s school of study and respective language school. They were a bit messy even with the announcement. They posted an announcement at around 3PM KST time, then deleted it because several student’s info was incorrectly uploaded (wrong school or wrong major). Then they uploaded again around 6PM, but eliminated the language school row LOL lucky for us, we have a very active community on fb and some students downloaded the initial PDF. Then, on the 30th (Saturday) they uploaded an “extra” notice containing language schools. I got assigned to 배재대학교 in Daejeon, where I will spend the next year of my life learning Korean! Exciting!

The biggest thing I wanted to accomplish this year was to get accepted into graduate school so I can eventually receive a masters degree. I have prayed for this constantly. It was a goal I have had since I graduated with both of my bachelor degrees. The day I set foot at CCU it was the perfect fit for me. I knew it wouldn't be easy but I knew that was the place I needed to be. God you're beyond amazing. After dealing with such an emotional couple of days and being broken down due to health issues, you show me that I need to stay strong and keep my faith. You're purpose for me is beyond what I can imagine. I am beyond blessed and happy. Graduate school I'm coming for ya!! Y'all I'm a graduate student now!!! 😁❤️🙌 #ccu #masters #degree #graduate #student #journey #blessed #strong #latina #mexicana #education #hope #inspire #lift #fit #health #saturday #proud #college #beautiful #prayer #faith #grace #gradschool #christianliving #godsword
