It’s time to STOP feeling guilty for being a little SELFISH !
It can be really easy to run ourselves into the ground, especially at this time of the year. Saying “no” to plans with friends or cancelling last minute can make me feel like I’m letting people down, or that I’m not doing enough to cater to other people’s needs, or even make me think that I’m making them feel angry or unwanted. 😭😕
It’s time to put a stop ✋🏼 to that kind of thinking. Saying no is a form of self care. By creating boundaries for ourselves we allow our energy to be prioritized where we need it the most in that moment! Are you really being selfish if you NEED that time to recharge or prioritize your tasks .
Maybe we should shift our perspective a bit and re define what selfishness really is A way I’ve been trying to do this is by understanding that I need to to what’s best for myself FIRST and then I’m able to distribute my energy however I please! Also, not allowing other people’s perception of my “selfishness” (ie looking after myself) negatively impact me. How another person defines selfishness should not be a determining factor in our actions!!! .
At the end of the day, we can’t really be our best selves if we can’t do things FOR OURSELVES!! Creating boundaries is something I’ve really struggled with but lately I’ve been working on making decisive actions that put me and my well-being FIRST in order to avoid BURNOUT 🔥 .
