A beautiful memorial service at the hospital tonight. Huge thank you to the Chaplaincy and Bereavement Midwives for working so hard on this. M is home ill at the moment so my Kaitlyn time this week will be very much reduced; it was a relief to have some dedicated time with Kaitlyn this evening. An opportunity as well to meet new people living through the same as our family and to spend some time with people who have become good friends.

I am so pleased to share that, having worked with Hampshire Hospitals over the last few weeks, we have been able to start the new Flutterbyes support group for parents who have lost a baby any time from the 16th week of pregnancy. Over the last few months I’ve accessed support in other geographical areas, but there has been nothing in place in North Hampshire, which covers a large geography and includes two acute hospital sites. I am so pleased that there will now be something in place for parents in this area.
If you are a bereaved parent in the North Hampshire area, or you know someone who would benefit from joining this meeting, please send me a message and I will reply with the details of how to access the group.
North Hampshire Hospital are also now able to provide a memory bear, like our Kaity bear (see photos), to this same group of bereaved parents. I have set this up under the banner of Keepsakes for Kaitlyn. I am so pleased to be able to offer some small comfort to families during this devastating time and want to say a huge thank you to the wonderful Bereavement Midwives at North Hampshire Hospital, who helped to make this possible. There will be fundraising efforts to follow!
I am missing our perfect girl so much today (perhaps a post Mother’s Day crash) and it means a lot to be able to continue Kaitlyn’s legacy in her local area.

As we count down to our AAU/ACU Recruitment Open Day on Saturday we want to introduce you to some of the team!
Introducing AAU/ACU Clinical Matron Simone H 🙌🏻 She said - "My name is Simone and I am the Clinical Matron on the Acute Assessment & Ambulatory Care Units.
I have worked in ED for 16 years and decided to make the transition to acute medicine so I could see what happens after the patient leaves the ED. AAU gives me the best of both worlds - its combines the acuity I love with the chance to have more of a say in the assessing and planning of the care the patients need.
I love the fact I get to be the first person the patient sees when they arrive in the hospital and that by the time they leave our care they are either fit for discharge or established with their care needs and get admitted to the ward. ACU provides the opportunity to assess patients at their most vulnerable and commence a treatment plan which avoids a hospital admission whilst still providing the care and investigations they need.
I have a passion for high quality holistic patient care and share my passion and drive with my team. We are a small but expanding team and we all work together to provide the best care we can for our patients.
I look forward to welcoming you along to our open day this saturday. See you then." Follow the link in our bio above to book your tickets for this weekends events.
Remember to avoid disappointment if you are planning to apply for one of the terrific new roles available then follow the link in the ticket details.
See you all there 👋🏻 Tomorrow we introduce you to the ACU and find out more about the team you can join!

🎳 Bowling Ball Vagina 🎳
Hands up those who know EXACTLY what I mean when I say that ✋🏻
The part of pregnancy when it feels like you have a bowling ball wedged in your vagina. Sometimes it can start as early as the 1st trimester but is more common as baby gets heavier during the 2nd and 3rd trimester.
“WHY THOUGH!” I hear you cry.
We can partly blame the hormone Relaxin that is released during pregnancy to help relax the ligaments in the pelvis to prepare them for birth.
This Relaxin can stretch and weaken muscles and ligaments therefore increasing pressure from baby onto the weakened pelvic floor, the hammock of muscles that support all the organs of the pelvis, which in turn causes a feeling of fullness in the vagina.
But there’s also the fact that during pregnancy we have 50% more blood volume (veiny boobs anyone!) and this can make your vagina and labia swollen and tender - that throbbing, full, heavy feeling is normal and often feels worse after standing for a while!
It’s really important to be aware of your pelvic floor during pregnancy and practising correct pelvic floor exercises can help support your pelvic floor throughout these mind-blowing changes your body is going through!
For more pelvic floor hints and tips check out @the.vagina.whisperer (I wish this was my username 😆) and @pelvicfloorpatrol .... Does anyone know any other accounts that could be helpful I would love to say hi!
Keep going Mamas, you’ve got this! You are amazing, Bowling Ball Vagina and all 😘

I can’t believe I made this video 2 years ago, the challenges we face seem no where near letting up. The NMC reported over 40,000 nursing vacancies today! It must be bonkers daunting to those about to enter the profession. But 3 years since I was a NQN I still feel being a nurse is fab and worth the investment emotionally and physically we have to give. There are lots of staff that will support you as you make that step, reach out and find that person to connect with and share your journey with. #nurselife #studentnurse #nursessupporttheiryoung #hampshirehospitals #registerednurse
