TGIF! Another crazy week comes to an end, so it’s time for a round of #FridayIntroductions! Christmas is in full swing so here are some of my favorite Holiday activities! 🎄
1. Wrapping presents! Something about finding the right gift and perfectly wrapping it makes me so happy! 🛍🎁
2. Ice skating! I don’t go unless it’s the holidays but I just love the feeling of ice skating on a cold winter day ⛸❄️
3. Christmas Lights! Nothing better than blasting Christmas music and slowly driving by houses covered in Christmas lights. My family went to Candy Cane Lane every year growing up and I love keeping up with the tradition. 🎄☃️
4. Baking! I LOVE holiday baking! I will make cakes, cookies, brownies and everything in between for the holidays, it’s the time to eat what you want 🍪🎂
5. Christmas Cards! I love sending and receiving Christmas cards. My favorite part of the day is checking the mail and getting a new holiday card to put on our tree 🥰✉️ What is your favorite thing to do around the holidays
Also shoutout to my amazing aunt who took our engagement pictures including this one @sbailiff ❤️ #fridayintroduction #tgif #letterer #calligrapher
Hello Christmas 🎄 So for every day leading up to Christmas Day, I have set myself a challenge to illustrate or hand letter a word or a particular thing I do over this time of year! I couldn’t think of a catchy hashtag for the challenge, so I’m open to any suggestions 💖
What mom calls me when she’s trying to be funny. Joke’s on her because my flat nose is super cute.
It’s the 11th Day ‘til Christmas! 🎁 I have a GIANT gift wrapping station in my room that so far has not seen any wrapping action, so I’m going to use today’s piece as a reminder that I reeeeeeally need to get moving on that. Oh, and also finish Christmas shopping because that’s not done either 😬 #fueledbyprocrastination
Every illustrator of a certain age knows that a Radio Times cover is up there among the traditional bucket-list jobs - along with an album cover, a Royal Mail stamp or maybe a cover for a book by your favourite author.
I've done the stamp and the album cover and the novels, but I'd never done an RT Christmas. I've got colleagues who've done them - Mick Brownfield being the most marvellous and prolific! - and once upon a 2015, I almost did too.
In 2016 I created the festive page headers for the Christmas RT, and a nice big bit of cover type and a hand-lettered DPS for the July edition too.
But, before both of those, the 2015 Christmas RT almost had a dramatic, type-led cover bursting with stars (astronomically and celebrity-wise), over a night-time snowy horizon. It was different, for sure - but just a little too different for the audience. The art director and I were mega-keen, but sadly, in the end, the senior decision makers went with tradition and a beautiful image of a Briggsian snowman. And who can argue with that, albeit reluctantly
These sketches are as far as it went and have lain hidden in my archive ever since, but I thought it was time they saw daylight - I like this idea that, maybe, this job will one day head back over Mole's way.
Who knows! After all...more unlikely things have happened after throwing a little cosmic ordering into the air... Merry Christmas Telly to all!

This quote sums up my last 6 months quite literally. I’ve been through somewhat spiritual journey to myself. I think we all live through a phase like that in some part of our lives when everything feels just empty. No ideas, no feels, no inspiration, no nothing. Just numbness. So I think the most meaningful question is, what do you do then. How do you work through it
For me it was taking a break from everything - except me. Like totally! And it’s been a tough ride at times but I think I’ve learned something too. Learned to take everything a bit more slowly and appreciate everyday’s little things. And in case you’re wondering: I’m more than OK now. I just needed to calm things up a bit and at this time it also meant taking a tiny break from IG also. Now I will hopefully keep my creative fluids flowing more freely and post more often here also. 🙌🏻
This is also my late participation to #homwork week 44 which challenged us to letter a quote based on plants. Hope you like it! Happy Friday to all!🥂✨

“Friendly reminder: you are not required to impress anyone with your life choices.” For day 14 of #letteringselfcare.
In case you needed this reminder today: your life choices are your own and you don’t need to explain them, justify them, or impress anyone with them. It can be difficult to not worry about what other people think, especially in this day and age when social media has taken over our lives. We’re constantly bombarded with images of other people’s seemingly perfect lives, and it’s easy to get sucked into the whirlpool of comparison. But it’s important to remember that what we see on social media is often inauthentic and only a tiny fraction of reality. Social media is merely a tool - there are definitely many benefits to it and I’m not saying we should denounce it completely (obviously, since I’m using social media to share this message). But we need to remind ourselves that there’s more to life than that, and we don’t need to constantly worry about impressing other people.
wieder etwas mehr Kreativität... ein fester Vorsatz für 2019...
This idea came to me this morning after listening to old Christmas songs and discussing the patriarchy of Christmas with @team_levine_ - trying to be better at getting my ideas done while I remember them 👌
Party people, the tote bags are here and ready to carry all your party necessities. They’re perfect for toting around your favorite books, snacks, reusable water bottle, some LPs from your favorite band or maybe just some party supplies. These are printed with love by yours truly on 100% cotton canvas here in #desmoines using commercial grade ink. These are made to take a beating but you should give them some love. I’m selling these for the low low lowwwww price of $6. You can snag one from me in person or on my Etsy page. Only ten of these tote bags are up for grabs, so snag one while they’re hot!
Since I’m all about spreading love and artwork I’m going to extend a special offer to all of my Instagram followers. If you purchase two or more of my shirt designs, either through me or my Etsy store, I’ll toss in a tote bag of your choice for free! (Be sure to mention this post in your order and we’ll all be winners)
Happy Friday 🎉
