Leave a ‘❤️’ below if you can relate. I won’t go into specifics, but I will say to always advocate for yourself and the ones you love. It’s been so disheartening lately to see, firsthand, the financial motives behind healthcare in general. The unnecessary medication, the misdiagnoses, the lack of testing, and the over-testing, are just some of the things I have seen. So, please advocate for yourself. You know your mind and body more than anyone else. And please advocate for those who can’t such as pets, children, and the elderly. I know this is not all healthcare systems and providers, but it is happening way too much and way too often. Getting medical attention is very important. Just make sure to go with your gut and do your own research as well. That’s just my two cents🤷🏼♀️❤️
✨ Feliz Viernes!!! Happy Friday everyone 💜 ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m busy writing this morning and working on my next blog posts! I’m SO thankful for all of the positive feedback I have been receiving on the first 2 posts. 😍
This feedback continues to motivate me to share my experiences as a new grad OT as well as to pursue my passion for OT advocacy 🔊, diversity in healthcare 🌎 , and health/wellness practices 🌱. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Current and future OT students: please DM me any topics you think would be beneficial for you ♥️ my next post will be my experiences during my 3 OT job interviews!
Last evening I was fortunate enough to attend the most heartwarming retirement party for a true giant in the legal world, Dick Donahue, senior partner and one of the founders of Donahue Brown Mathewson & Smyth. What an honor and privilege it was to finally meet this distinguished and highly regarded malpractice attorney who devoted decades to defending honest, dedicated physicians in our never-ending struggles to provide safe, appropriate care to the patients we are privileged to serve. As a doctor, I am deeply blessed and genuinely grateful to practice radiology and to lead others in this most admirable profession. However, way too often our well-intentioned efforts are thwarted by lawsuits, the overwhelming majority of which are not validated (although mind you there are those that definitely are). Thank you to champions of the law, like Mr. Donohue, who steady the hands of justice so all persons - patients, their families, and physicians - are treated fairly and equally! #doctors #hardworkingdoctors #radiologist #physicianleader #leadingdoctors #doctorswhocare #fairness #equality #compassionatecare #justiceforall #handsofjustice #healthcareprofessionals #defenselawyer #lawyers #defendingdoctors #protectingpatients #malpractice #lawprofession #medicalprofession #doctorsandlawyers #workingtogether
Happy Friday-Eve y'all!!! Every Thursday, I have the opportunity to conduct Medicare Wellness Visits at a Family Medical Clinic in collaboration with a Nurse Practitioner in rural Oklahoma!
This is a new concept of collaborating with Pharmacists in outpatient medical clinics to assist in caring for medicare patients & I'm very excited to see where this opportunity can lead to in the future!
During this visit I... *Check for signs of cognitive impairment, changes in mood, and sleep disturbance *Develp a complete list of current health care providers, immunizations and prescriptions *Provide personalized health advice *Counsel over smoking cessation, weight loss, heart health, cholesterol values, A1C, TSH/T4 levels, and other values as well as how to improve these values in the future *Screen for appropriate preventive services, immunizations and medications & MUCH MORE!! What are your thoughts of Pharmacists providing these type of Medicare Services in clinics!
Uchechi Onyeyirim’s (@uche2lovely) advice to those pursuing DNP and NP degrees. Uchechi is a New Jersey native born to parents from Etche, Rivers state, Nigeria. She started her undergraduate education as a Biology major at Temple University in Philadelphia but soon decided that her passion involved a more personal and therapeutic relationship with people in healthcare. She decided to change her major to Nursing with a public health minor. Upon graduating with a BSN, she pursued a Master of Science in Nursing Practice at La Salle University to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is currently working as an Family Nurse Practitioner at a family medicine practice in Pennsylvania. She is also attending Emory University full time for a Doctorate in Nursing Practice with a focus on Population Health. She hopes that one day she will be able to extend her knowledge on population health and primary care to local communities in Nigeria.
“For those pursuing the DNP or NP just know that there aren’t too many NP’s in the world just yet but there is a growing need in the primary care world for us. With that being said, you really have to sell yourself and what you have to offer as an NP. I believe that having the highest degree in your field will always give you an advantage.
I would advise any one who is confused about what path they want to take to ultimately follow their heart. The pressure to do what your family or those around you want you to do will always be there but you are the one who has wake up loving what you do daily. Ask God for the strength and guidance and you won’t fail!”

Women can be everything and ANYTHING they want to be. Powerful, Intelligent, Beautiful, Funny, Sexy, etc. Women (actually, people in general) are not one-sided; in fact, we should embrace each characteristic that makes us who we are. In the OT world, we would say to embrace our unique roles in society. 👩🏽⚕️ 🌏 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
