High Protein Breakfast Milkshake 
I love it when I have the time to really focus on my food consumption. I get crazy hunger pangs during odd hours especially if I’m training hard. These shakes make for easy nutritious calories. I’ll also have them for breakfast sometimes too. I don’t always have the time to make them but I try to as much as possible because it’s better than a late night McDonald’s binge or skipping breakfast! The ingredients I use are not always the same, sometimes I won’t add the protein supplement if I don’t feel the need for it. You can really mix and match according to your own goals. Mine is to have it as a dense caloric healthy source of protein. I do add Nutella for taste, but you don’t need to.

These shakes make for easy nutritious calories. I’ll also have them for breakfast sometimes too. Use these tips for a smoothie that keeps you going strong till lunch!
➡️PROTEIN - aim for 25-30 grams from various sources (milks, nut butters & seeds count!)
➡️FIBER from fruits, veggies & seeds. The problem with most of the ready-made smoothies/protein shakes on the market is lack of fiber.
➡️FAT - use a good amount! 1-2 Tbsp of nut butter, 1 Tbsp of coconut oil, or 1/4 of an avocado.

In addition, green bananas also help you absorb nutrients better, particularly calcium.Drawbacks: Because antioxidant levels actually INCREASE as a banana ages, unripe bananas are lower in this category.  Also green bananas may cause some bloating and gas due to the higher resistant starch content.

Changing what you drink is one of the most foundational swaps you can make to help elevate your overall health and aid with weight loss. I want to prevent you from making the same mistakes I did so I thought I would share this helpful chart! While it’s totally great to treat yourself to fun drinks, make sure what you’re drinking on a daily basis is nourishing you, not depleting you ❤️

Water 💦 should always be a priority on your list because even mild dehydration (1-3% of body weight) can impair many aspects of brain function plus trigger headaches and migraines in some individuals. I always start my day with anywhere from 16oz-32oz water since you essentially wake up dehydrated from the night. If drinking enough water is not a habit for you yet, try setting reminders on your phone to drink every 2 hours or keep a full bottle at your desk!

Other high quality drinks to add to repertoire are protein shakes (feel free to add your own fruit at home since that’s the good kind of sugar paired with fiber), lower-sugar kombucha, teas, coffee and actually green green juices!

Drinks to minimize include:
sodas
juices since they remove the fiber from the fruit and act similarly in your body to other sugary drinks
fake green juices - really just fruit juice with a kale leaf added

I feel like I should write more about my “ health journey “ in here since Im constantly reading people experiences and advises. 🌱 Lately I have been a bit more worried about balancing my diet and adding as much variety as I can for health purposes. I feel like after a long time being plant based eating whatever “as long as in vegan” is definitely not enough. When i have free time i love to spend alone time in the kitchen cooking and trying recipes but unfortunately I dont have that much free time these days so I’ve been trying to add as many things as I can into my meals lately hahah. 👩🏽‍🍳Smoothies and I have not always been very good friends, I’m more of a juice girl haha but Smoothies are such an idea way to get fibre , calories, protein, antioxidants and good fats all in one so I’ve been making them way more often now!

I feel like I should write more about my “ health journey “ in here since Im constantly reading people experiences and advises. 🌱 Lately I have been a bit more worried about balancing my diet and adding as much variety as I can for health purposes. I feel like after a long time being plant based eating whatever “as long as in vegan” is definitely not enough. This mornings smoothie being enjoyed in the nice warm sun, soaking up some vitamin D on doctors orders. I will see the doctor again on Tuesday to see if my vitamin D levels have increased in the last few weeks or not. I will also get the results of my sleep study, and the pre work up blood tests ready to start sulfasalazine.

Recently, I started practicing yoga on a consistent basis. A result of friend of mine who started teaching a class, very welcoming and mindful of the stages we are all in. I have tried to get into it before but it just didn’t jive until now. I enjoy it and really feel the effect of not going, if I have a schedule conflict. This time around the all the pieces of the puzzle fell into place. 🌸

Changing what you drink is one of the most foundational swaps you can make to help elevate your overall health and aid with weight loss. I want to prevent you from making the same mistakes I did so I thought I would share this helpful chart! While it’s totally great to treat yourself to fun drinks, make sure what you’re drinking on a daily basis is nourishing you, not depleting you ❤️

Water 💦 should always be a priority on your list because even mild dehydration (1-3% of body weight) can impair many aspects of brain function plus trigger headaches and migraines in some individuals. I always start my day with anywhere from 16oz-32oz water since you essentially wake up dehydrated from the night. If drinking enough water is not a habit for you yet, try setting reminders on your phone to drink every 2 hours or keep a full bottle at your desk!

Other high quality drinks to add to repertoire are protein shakes (feel free to add your own fruit at home since that’s the good kind of sugar paired with fiber), lower-sugar kombucha, teas, coffee and actually green green juices!

Drinks to minimize include:
sodas
juices since they remove the fiber from the fruit and act similarly in your body to other sugary drinks
fake green juices - really just fruit juice with a kale leaf added
