Where we dine.. As I’m in a flat, in London and space is not in huge supply, I opted for a simple breakfast bar to provide us with somewhere to sit together, socialise and more importantly eat 👩🏽🍳 ______________________________________________________________
One my my weekly rituals to add calmness, nature, and beauty into our home is buying a fresh bouquet of flowers for the start of the week!
There is something so simple and so life giving about this small little act and it truly ties together the “coziness” factor of a home!
If you’re lucky enough to live near @traderjoes - go grab their fresh, #budgetfriendly bouquets! If you live in #Alaska like me... ya gotta get creative!
What’s one piece of decor (alive or artificial) that you can’t live without
All because of a printer. Our new printer arrived on Thursday and we were in search of the perfect spot to put it. You see, my hubby and I share a office space...along with the wood stove...and there just isn't much extra room for anything. So we decided the best spot was next to my husband's desk...which is right where this adorable couch was. I realized we never sat on it much as it is (other than when the wood stove is going), so we impulsively decided to move the couch out our office where it has lived for 3years and into the kitchen! 🙌 I'm alllll about making the rooms in your house functional AND comfortable...and cozy ❤ So far we are loving having it in our kitchen space! It's perfect for eating at...playing board games...or just a good spot for Ryden to relax when I'm cookin' 😊 My challenge for you is to make a home that is functional (cause I'm all about things having purpose) AND comfortable for you and your family. Even if that means often "breaking the rules" and having a couch in your kitchen 😂 Cause really if you think about it there are no "rules" for how your house should go, its all about what works for YOU. Xoxo, yours truly...a wanna be interior designer 😝 P.S make sure to "follow" along to see MORE posts like this... if you're obsessed with decorating like me or just want to get better at it! ✨ #owenshappyhome #kodecorating
Happy September Sunday! BRAND NEW ITEMS are listed in my Etsy Shop (of course for the Fall!) so go check them out and get your home ready for Autumn with our great Home Decor!
Progress report on this farmhouse table! I am refinishing this for my friend @missbingham1 and I’m IN LOVE! She just bought her first home and it’s got a ton of character. I love the sleek contrast of the Java and Snow White. It keeps the charm of the table but still gives it a little modern touch to fit in with the rest of her home. Touching it up today and applying the polycrylic topcoat for durability...then praying the humidity and rain don’t slow down the dry time too much.
#DIYtip : there is a HUGE difference between dry time and cure time. Taking humidity into account, this piece will probably be DRY in 48 hours...but it truly won’t be cured for a couple of weeks at best. While light use is okay on a dry piece, they are susceptible to nicks, dings, paint scuffs and scratches at a much higher rate until they are CURED! #letitcure #begentle
Enjoying our second weekend in our new house. Am so in love with our new veranda room. What you can’t see on this photo is that I also have my home office/studio in this room. The room is bathed in light, and it is truely perfect for photography, which makes me so excited. Can’t wait to find more time to work in here.
Happy Sunday everyone.
