🇿🇦 South Africa 🇿🇦 .
This past Summer I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to present my research at the International Association for Social Work with Groups (IASWG) 2018 Symposium held in Kruger National Park in South Africa. Not only was I able to gain more experience presenting research at my 6 conference but I had the most amazing opportunity to network with social work professionals and students from around the world.
My favorite memory is sharing a meal with students from South Africa that lead to a six hour conversation to the late hours of the night discussing the similarities and differences of social work in our respective countries. I would go back in a heartbeat. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the trip to reminisce about the good times I had.
So grateful to Monmouth University for being able to spend an awesome past three days with a bunch of people in the same profession as me. I have learned so much, not just about working with groups, but about myself as a person & social worker. It has reminded me why I chose to become a social worker, at a time I really really needed it. #georgewilliamscollege #iaswg #socialwork #lakegeneva

It's finally here! My cobtribution to the book:
Black LGBT Health in the United States: The Intersection of Race, Gender, and Sexual Orientation.
I worked on this through physical and emotional pain. At times I wanted to give up, but thanks to some very good friends who's unwavering support kept me on track. I gave voice to a group that was once an idea that came from my own need for a space where I can be my whole self while still being seen and validated in my experiences. I facilitate this group every Monday night and over the past 4 yrs it has continued to challenge and motivate me to show up and challenge the "norms" of society and community.
This is one of the best gifts I have given myself.

So sad to announce the passing of Steve Kraft, long time attorney for the Guidance Center, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Steve, a true gentleman, was also a social worker whose sound and generous counsel, and friendship, will be sorely missed. - Andrew Malekoff, CEO, NSCFGC #stevekraft #socialwork #groupwork #iaswg #obituary
