This year has definitely been one for the books so far, but I’m not going to let it get me down.

We’ve been through worse and we will make it through this too.

I keep saying “I don’t know how much more I can take,” but the reality is, whatever comes, we will continue to fight our way through.

C3S1 I’ve been running on 4 hours sleep a night for the last 3 days and oh boy am I starting to feel it but it was definitely worth it for the fun weekend with family, putt putt golf, aqua golf, eating too much junk food and drinking rum, hilarious games of cards against humanity and stuff happens, it was even worth the 11 hours of driving to get there and back but the sleep shortage is showing in my workout time since it took me an extra 20 minutes 10-1 with 12kg for the back squats, cardio finisher then 3x 25 sit-ups /1 minute planks for extra credit now I think this peaker needs a nap 😴 #nevermissamonday #mypeakchallenge #aussiepeaker #ineedsleep #tiredpeaker

Today I took a nap! A glorious, long winter’s nap. It’s been snowing ALLLLL day and it was the cozy thing to do! ❄️ .

I remember being exhausted, from what I now know was emotional and physical based, and just wanting to crawl under the covers any chance I got. The bed called my name for 2-3 extra hours during the day if at all possible. There were the occasional days I couldn’t get one in, but I literally scheduled my life around nap time.

I was sleeping through my life.
.
.
And I know so many of you are, too! You say you just LOVE sleep or you just LOVE your naps, and I lovingly have 2 ✌🏼questions for you.

1️⃣What are you avoiding?
.
.
Sometimes we seek the cozy comfort of our bed because we just can’t deal with life, stress, anxiety, depression, emotional turmoil. So we simply want to shut it all off and go to sleep. Lights out. I don’t have to deal with the hard stuff for those 2-3 hours. I feel you, friend. I know that’s part of what I was doing. Trying to sleep problems or sadness away. Only problem was it just compounded. Sleep is not a life solution.

2️⃣ How well is your body truly functioning?
.
.
I knew nothing back then about how the gut produces almost all of melatonin and that without adequate melatonin ( a hormone that helps with sleep), you just aren’t getting the deep sleep you need. That equals sleepy days! 😴 I also didn’t understand the cycle of blood sugar instability and the roller coaster of highs and LOWS I was riding because my blood sugars were not balanced. Because I’m steady and stable now, so is my energy. That means less sugar, soda, and naps! My body functions like a Ferrari now!  #themoreyouknow

I feel like I missed a lot of life sleeping. I yelled at my kids to get them to sleep. I made them stay in their rooms for 2-3 hours cause mama couldn’t deal without a nap. I planned my entire life around a sleep/nap schedule. I was buffering and surviving life instead of thriving. If thriving sounds better, let’s talk.

Thanks for sharing Susan! 💗🌱 Nightmares and recurring dreams were a regular part of my nights up until a couple of months ago. I learned that the dreams could be a side effect from my anti depressant. My physician suggested lowering my dose. I took it a step further and slowly weaned myself off Prozac all together.
During this process I started using a magnesium based Sleep cream to help me relax and fall asleep and escape my crazy dreams. I am so happy to have recovered normal sleep, no more crazy nights and I wake up rested and ready to get up.
What incredible relief! My anxiety and depression have pretty much disappeared. The puffiness and dark circles around my eyes is almost gone. I don't look like a zombie anymore.
Sleep, beautiful sleep! I can't make medical claims but I know I won't ever go back to pills when good sleep was what I really needed to start feeling like myself again.

✨VALENTINE’S DAY✨ . . . Haven’t posted in a while! But I’ve been back down to London for my night shift and then had a lovely valentines dinner and cinema trip with @wpalmer_nutrition for Valentine’s Day! ❤️ . . . So... more positives about turning “Howard Home” into “Howard Hospital” which Ive done handfuls of time just dont really talk about it. However, Im putting it out there more especially since its been helpful to see from my internet “friends” who live in the chronic lane share a lot of the “same” struggles & we can relate to each other. Anyways, being home always me to go outside for fresh air and not just look out a giant window. Yes there is snow on the ground but out back we dont have trees in our yard so we get lots of sun-its great!☀️ (those are our neighbors trees) Right now, Im sitting in the corner of the deck where if the suns out it hits that spot and gets “warm” bc of the screened in porch and house. Who doesn’t love sunshine on your face no matter how you feel?😊 Then NO wearing hospital gowns. Woo hoo being home I have all my belongings so can change my clothes - so nice especially when my body temperature changes. Then, that last picture is my moms dog Jersey, she is a Bernese Mountain dog. I figured I would show you the other housemate who lives here. 🐾 Things are more manageable today bc the last 24hrs ive kept on top of pain meds. Called into the answering service & we decided to take an stress dose of my addisons meds. Seems like we are heading in the right direction... now if only I could get some sleep. My daughter's are in my bed more than I am... #tiredmom #ineedsleep

So I didn’t really sleep at all last night because I knew I’d be twice as tired if I slept 2-3 hours & got up than if I just stayed up all night, so that’s what I did. My 2nd wind kicked in & although tired, I was ready to go to work at 6. Long story short, I started fading fast. Thankfully my boss was fine with me leaving early so I’m home & I’m gonna crash. I definitely need sleep! So please DND. My Mom is really sore today & tired as well but at least it wasn’t anything more serious. If you reach out to either of us & we don’t respond... you know why.
