First Sogetsu Victoria Group workshop of the year. The topic for this workshop was Seasonal Material and Something Found.
Hmmm...don't you just hate it when you interpret the prompt wrongly or differently?!!! This was the case for me. 🙄😏 I totally thought that something found had to be a seasonal material too which meant I had to go foraging. So I used fig branches which was from the garden. Dahlias and agapanthus are in season right now too. But majority of the members had brought unconventional materials that they found to pair with their flower materials. Prompt would have been more clear if it was seasonal material with unconventional material. Nevermind!!! All things considered I think it's not too shabby for a 30min arrangement. ☺️ #ikebana #sogetsuikebana

The Flower Alphabet
J is for...Japanese Anemones

Ah, the exquisite lightness of being. Borne aloft on long slender stems, these delicate flowers sway serenely in the breeze, which explains their common name of ‘windflowers’ They are faithful friends adding garden colour in the gap between the fading summer flowers and the yet-to-arrive autumn visitors. .

Late summer clean up in the kitchen garden after last weeks wet weather. Looking a little better, less scruffy. I do love the fennel with all its flowers then the seed heads. They just flower forever it seems. However they looked awful after the rain they just had to go. #latesummer #gardening #kitchengardening #mygarden #tidyup #aftertherain #2020

Missing road trips right now. Winter always get me in a funk around this time- mid February. Spring feels so close yet so far. Will it be one more month of frigid cold and snow? Two and a half? Impossible to say. Here’s a nice pic from driving through Utah last August, somewhere in Moab. 🧡

〰️ In Yin Yoga, the Manipura मणिपूर ✧ Solar Plexus✧ chakra regulates the Liver, Gallbladder, Spleen +Stomach. The Liver +Gallbladder are the organs of Spring, +correspond to the Wood element. Where the Spleen +Stomach are the organs of Late Summer +correspond to the Earth Element. If we focus on Late Summer we can also find relationships with the colour yellow, the mouth, saliva, dampness, +the taste of sweet.

Manipura is located above the navel +is known as the centre of vitality.  When in balance we feel anchored in our inner being, our core is strong +centred, our digestion is fired up +our energy levels are radiant.  Weakness in the Manipura leads to incompletely digested foods, thoughts +emotions, +is a source of ama ✧ toxicity ✧, this leading to an imbalanced Earth Element.

One such possible symptom of an imbalanced Earth Element is an addiction to sugar.  It is no coincidence that during this time of year people tend to crave more sweets.  Foods to consume to support the system during this time include: sweet yellow tomatoes, squash, corn, yellow pepper, sweet yellow onions, ginger, tumeric, chickpeas, bananas, tamarinds, dandelion +chamomile flowers, pumpkin +roasted root vegetables ✧ which assist in the grounding process ✧

Another way to support Manipura +clear this energy centre is to chant the seed mantra ‘RAM’ , which allows you to exercise greater self-control +negative impulses ✧ goodbye sugar binges ✧ It is also said to increase your self-esteem, confidence, +self-assurance.

To clear Manipura:
⌁ Sit on your knees, with your back straight +relaxed
⌁ Place your hands in front of the stomach, near the navel. Let the fingers join at the tops, all pointing away from you. Cross the thumbs and straighten the fingers
⌁ Concentrate on the Manipura Chakra
⌁ Silently, yet clearly, chant the sound ‘RAM’
⌁ Whilst doing so imagine a warm yellow glow radiating from this area, reflect on what Manipura Chakra means +how it affects your life +what shifts you would like to take place to align with a clear +balanced centre
⌁ Keep chanting and reflecting until you are completely relaxed +you feel clean +clear in this energy centre

We will be ▽ Continued ▽
