What’s the difference between archaeology and anthropology
In universities in the United States, we usually find departments of anthropology that train experts in all four subdisciplines: archaeology, cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, and linguistics (though I’ll be honest—most departments are weak on linguistics since linguistics departments also exist outside of anthropology departments). In other parts of the world, archaeology may be its own department or fall under a different department.
Anthropology as a whole is the scientific study of humanity. Each subdiscipline focuses on a different way to study humanity.
Archaeology is the study of past cultures by excavating and investigating the material culture left behind, including buildings, artifacts and ecofacts, and the landscape itself as it was shaped by humans.
Archaeological excavations (digs) typically happen during several-week periods called field seasons, which are held in between faculty teaching commitments and so often happen in the summers.
Depending on the location, archaeologists may commute from their homes or camp or live on site 24/7 during the field season.
In case you’re curious about the remaining subdisciplines:
Cultural anthropology is the study of present day cultures.
Biological anthropology has several branches, but includes the study of health and disease (today and in the past), human remains from archaeological sites, human ancestors/evolution, and more.
Linguistics examines the relationship between language and culture.
These pictures gets me so hype. It captures me in the act of what I was put on this earth to do: transform self and society through purposeful education. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Last week, I had the privilege to break in the new innovation hub @sproutcoding by facilitating a 3-day “inner engineering” workshop. This was incredibly important to me as it was my first opportunity to truly synthesize and spread the findings from my exploration of self, purpose, and social change. The workshop had four guiding questions: Who am I, really Why am I here What is my vision for self and society How will I actualize this ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Through powerful discussions and deep introspection, participants were given the space to connect with each other, their most authentic self, and establish a sense of direction, reason for being, purpose, or whatever else you want to call it. It’s that which lights your heart on fire and leaves the world a better place. As Socrates once noted, “Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.”
By and large I was extremely happy with how the program went. When we give ourselves the space to explore these questions, they can have a profound impact. As one participant noted, “Nobody’s ever asked me these questions before, so thank you.” It was an incredible learning experience and I’m pumped to continue this journey of finding out to design, facilitate, and spread deeply purposeful education.
This is my 2.5 yr old daughter’s current favourite phrase along with ‘What you doing Mama’
And I say, ‘Okay darling, I know you can,’ stand back and let her give it a go. Often she succeeds. It’s amazing. .
What I want to say is, ‘Just remember you don’t always have to do it yourself. I’m here. I want to help you. I want to catch you when you fall. Don’t be too proud to ask for help when you need it my strong, determined, incredible daughter. You are not alone in this world.’
Because I know she needs to try things out to learn and to grow and to develop. And I want her to believe she is capable of anything. But I don’t want her to think she has to accomplish it all without help or that it’s not okay to fail. Because there’s an emotional danger in that. And the way we build our emotional world in childhood lasts our whole lifetime. .
As she grows, I want her to know we are all human. We need help. We need community. We need support. We need each other. .
I’d like you all to know that too ✨💜😘

Learning never stops! Can't get a babysitter, don't have a car, tuition is too high, classes don't fit my work schedule, blah, blah, blah, blah. Excuses are like bellybuttons... EVERYONE HAS ONE. The only person stopping you from learning and progressing in life is YOU. There are LIMITLESS resources for continual growth and education but YOU have to commit to YOUR own success. You have time for tv, social media, parties, shopping and everything else yet complain about where you are on your job or in life overall. C'mon people, get it together... nothing, absolutely nothing is free in life. If you want more, you have to put yourself in place to receive it. Your life, your choice, your story... only you hold the pen.

Own it!!! We all have one chance to live this life, and lord knows we all have made mistakes along the way. Which is why none of us have the right to judge anyone else. We’ve got our shoes to walk in and that’s all we need to worry about. #lifecoach #motivation #inspire #ownyourpast #noregrets #learning #evolve

#WhyWonderland... Summer is better with Adventures in STEAM!
It's never too early to integrate STEAM into learning + fun and at Wonderland Private School even our Summer Camps aim to build and foster an interest/passion for STEAM-related areas.
1. Engineering—PreK3: kids building using Maga Tiles.
2. Technology & Science—PreK 3: learning about weather, specifically, the sounds associated with hurricanes and tornadoes on the computer
3. Technology—PreK2: using the computer to create various expressive faces with the teacher reinforcing knowledge of body parts and colors.
4. Art—PreK4: Creating art. The girls made cards. The boys started a game on their own using the colors.

Sometimes we find the coolest additions to the learning center! This was free off Craigslist and if I can find a new spool head it will actually work 😍😍
Regardless if it does work or not, I love adding new real life objects into the mix. Because the children might think they’re only playing but unbeknownst to them they are absorbing knowledge along the way. -
He may be mashing the keys, but he’s also noticing the markings, and those markings he sees when he flips through our books, plays with our other literacy toys and when I write things out on the board. They all begin to tied together in his head before he even notices it himself. -
On top of that, the sensory input of the keys is exciting. Wow, if letters are this fun, I WANT to learn how to make them. -
Learning is not a chore at CuriousFox, it’s the inevitable desire that sprouts from within the child. Who doesn’t want to learn something that’s fun!
Going at your own speed is the secret. To everyone else it might seem like you aren’t progressing. Truth is you’re just getting started and that’s okay 🐧❤️ #freshfacebeautiful
