Born in 1929 in Ghana, James Barnor experienced first-hand his country’s independence as well as the formation of the diaspora to London in the 1960s. In the early 1950s, he opened his famous Ever Young studio in Accra, where he immortalised a nation craving modernity and independence in an ambiance that was animated by conversation and highlife music.
@Gallery1957 is happy to present Life According to James Barnor, as part of @nukufestival. This exhibition celebrates the life and work of legendary Ghanaian photographer James Barnor.
The night will begin with a conversation by Nii Obadai and Billie McTernan, followed by a reception at the Gallery.
This exhibition is supported by: Alliance Francaise, Institut Francaise, and the Embassy of France, Ghana
Photo: E. K. Nyame, the legendary Ghanaian musician, photographed for a record cover, Accra, c. 1975.

A shoot with my dear friend and healer Sujon downtown Los Angeles. Find your inner peace in the midst of chaos. Enjoy the sun on your back. Remember It is always there, behind the clouds. There is always something you can be grateful for. ☀️ In Sujon’s words; Love More ❤️
While breaking down our #IMTS booth, the air bag system used to lift and move machines malfunctioned, causing one of our machines to tip. First and foremost, we are happy to report that no one was injured. It appears the machine may only have cosmetic damage and require sheet metal replacement but it will be thoroughly inspected once it arrives at our headquarters in Charlotte - we will then determine its status. Our reputation of legendary reliability is well-earned and you can count on us to stand behind all of our products, 100 percent. IMTS 2018 was certainly a highlight of the year for Okuma, and it gave us even greater optimism for the year ahead! #okumaamerica #machinetools #instamachinist #reliable #cnc #mfg #okumaimts #quality #legendary
Normally if anyone #plan for a #trip to meghalaya, the plans includes the common destinations placed in the tourist map only. But those who love unusual & daring experiences and thrill, then try Bamboo trail trek to 'U Mawrynghang'/" king of stones". It is situated in a village called Wahkhen, some 50 kms from Shillong, an remote village in east khasi hills. Wahkhen will be a enchant for any #enthusiatic traveller. The day before the trek i was searching the details about it and surprisingly i found some intersting #stories behind the 'U Mawryngkhang'. It stories have passed through #generations. The #legendary stories says that U Mawryngkhang won all the battles with other stones & was thus crowned the king of the stones.Wahkhen is the starting point for the trek to Mawryngkhang. It starts with a bamboo trail leading to a rough stony path. After 20 minutes of walk through the bamboo bridges we hav reached the cleanest river in the region, " Umrew River".After that the adventure and thrilling #journey begins as we crossed the river on a C shaped bended bamboo bridge. The #thrill & #adventures continues with some scary bamboo brideges on the ridges of the rock for most of the trek.I suggest those who have 'Acrophobia',not to try this trek😇.It scars you when you look down & all you know is that the bamboo bridge is only your #life support. It gives you goosebumps all the way, when you realised that the bamboo railings are the only support between you and the #valley down below.Though it is a scary trek but while crossing through some water linings coming down from the mountains falls on you,i must say,it frees you from the scariness and fear. The toughest part of the trek, while you have to climb through some bridges made of bamboo&woods to reach the top point of ' Rock of stones'.While #climbing the final & toughest of all bridge Mawryngkhang,i realised that the local #peoples are the #finest engineers, exceptional job done by the villegers, who made those bamboo #bridges. You have to have complete #faith in the locals engineerings. After the 4 hours of trek finally the thrill & adventure was ended.i m glad that i hav completed the #trek after so much of huffing and puffing.
