Tonight starting at 8:30 PM, listen to the modern jazz quartet Verse! Led by NYC-based guitarist Avi Granite. Granite grew up in Toronto and studied classical guitar and piano starting at a young age. Later he refined his skills, learning with many Canadian jazz greats including Don Thompson, Ted Quinlan, and Pat LaBarbera. He graduated from Humber College's Jazz program and later got his masters from NYU where he studied with many of his heroes including John Scofield, Chris Potter, and Brad Shepik.
Saturday night’s concert will intersperse Granite's creative compositions with interpretations of familiar standards. Much of the music can be found on Avi Granite’s 3rd CD (first release since moving to NYC and the first album with Verse, called “Snow Umbrellas”. The band for Saturday night includes Jim Lewis on trumpet, Avi Granite on guitar, Neal Davis on bass, and Ted Warren on drums.

FEATURING: NICK COLIONNE, BRIAN SIMPSON, STEVE COLE
NOVEMBER 10 8:00 PM
Nick Colionne has blazed a trail to the top of the ranks of today’s stars. Combining Jazz, R&B, Blues and Funk, he has an unmistakable sound and vibe that is instantly recognizable. Inspired keyboardist, composer, prolific studio musician and producer Brian Simpson is a master of all he purveys. His eloquent approach to playing, sophisticated harmonics sense, bluesy overtones, R&B flavor and keen sense of how to craft a song that stands the test of time have made him the go-to man for many including Janet Jackson, Teena Marie, George Duke, Stanley Clarke and Dave Koz. A chart-topping musical chameleon who wrote the #1 R&B hit “The First Time”. Saxophonist Steve Cole is one of the most celebrated players in contemporary jazz. The Chicago native exploded onto the scene in 1998 with the album “Stay Awhile” that was broduced by fellow Chicagoan Brian Culbertson. The disc scored two #1 hits and earned Cole the Oasis Smooth Jazz Award for Best New artist shortly before his sophomore set, “Between Us,” was released in 2000. His catchy singles made him an instant radio favorite.
