This pond is just a few miles from my house, with access to this spot behind the Massapequa LIRR train station.
Started many years ago, it wasn’t until this week that it finally came together in the way I had envisioned.
I thought about Thoreau, about solitude, about having time to think at length without disruptions.
While my daily life as a painter is one where isolation is a key ingredient, I hope others who are not used to this slowing down of the world will come to see that there can be joy in solitude, even when it’s forced on you.
