LBNY-Arts presents the third installation of Art in the Lobby "In Our Nature" - April 2019
We continue to choose works from our Call to Artists submissions. The artwork showcased here represents different techniques and modes of art making including photography, watercolor, acrylic and oil, pastels, pen, charcoal & digital art. In viewing the work, you will notice there is a language that is shared throughout the pieces. .
The artists - each in their own way have described through the imagery used, an emotional connection to our surroundings and nature. We have chosen up to two pieces from each artist to give the audience a deeper understanding of what they were looking to convey.
The show begins with the bold yet simple brushstrokes of “The Mountain” and “The Wave”- creating an honest view of the innocence and beauty of nature, then as we move through the collection we are confronted with ideas and symbols that ask for reflection and pause as does “No Return Address and “Things Come and Go”, with much of the work allowing us to dwell in these spaces- if even for a brief moment with a gaze towards our inner nature.
Be sure to visit Art in Lobby located in #LBNY City Hall. Available for viewing during normal business hours #LBNYarts
Spotted a Hans Gabali mural in great condition. This dude was a working muralist on Long Island legend for decades. There’s still many of his paintings around and it’s refreshing to see the old style still around. We hope that whoever takes over this building leaves the mural up! #respect #hansgabali
