#ElwinShades Archaeology has attempted to explain stories for centuries. Those stories of old, within the surface of the rocks and the firmament of our planetary existence, all via the remains of what could have been monumental in the eras of the past, and hence, leading up to what we have become today. The site that archaeologists believe to contain some of the most ancient rock art in the world, rests within the treacherous landmark of Serra da Capivara in Piaui, Northeast Brazil.
This awe-striking piece of land, measuring at 129,140 hectares, contains more than 1,300 ancient sites, among many other formidable wildlife features. Due to its extremely treacherous characteristics, it is thought that the natives deemed it that much more of a venerable site--where entering it would have been a holy, sacred, and one-of-a-kind experience. For such reasons, shamans and all those involved in ritualistic practices would draw on the rocks with shades of red and crimson, known as ochre. This chemical, which naturally bleeds from the exposed surface of the rocks, was often utilized paired with grey and yellow pigments.
Not surprisingly, the majority of these petroglyphs were in relation to interaction between nature and mankind. Not uncommon in this case, linear paintings of deer, lizards, large birds, alligators, and so forth, made up a vast majority of their arts. Ritual based acts were often depicted as well; dancing, spiritual entities, hunting scenarios. This type of intriguing form of art--the primeval beginnings of natural elements being painted on rocks--can show us so much of what was on mankind's daily endeavors in prehistoric times. Not much has changed we suppose, when we look at it beyond the surface, but the fascination of what once was, is furiously alive in the minds of so many artists and archaeologists.

💕 The freedom of being a child. I love how kids literally do what they love the most. And they don’t care what anyone thinks. I also adore this quote! I find it so beautiful.
‘There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place, where colours are brighter, the air softer and the morning more fragrant than ever again.’ - Elizabeth Lawrence.
She’s out of the kiln!! My gorgeous Athenian Jungle Vine pot got a couple little cracks but it just adds to her charm 💛🌱
When dabbling in creative design, we may get swayed by the people, things and events happening around us. Sometimes, we end up losing ourselves and the initial reasons why we started our brand.
But we are slowly getting there - our recent designs have seen more organic shapes and abstract designs. Seeing the final products make us complete. We hope you feel the same too :) See us transform for the next few weeks :)
Vendor Feature 💛

A sneak peek into the finished product.
the very last tamarind passage dress has been added to the website. I think this hue is my personal favorite from the fw19 collection — autumn energy with a little nod to what’s left of summer. I love bringing the warm hues into the colder seasons as it helps to keep me feeling balanced (anyone know what I mean)

another thing that’s my favorite — this amazing mug by @forgedandfoundpottery 🌙🌑 + another thing: working with @ashespants + @devduu on getting the magic shots for Hina Luna ( #dreamteam)

hope you’re enjoying a weekend of rest, playfulness, magic, + just doin’ something you love. (like maybe enjoying a cup of tea in your backyard)
CANBERRA // @oditidesigns was co-founded by a family trio, Cecilia, Samantha and Cynthia. Following their lineage of makers from Chile and Spain, this multi-skilled team with backgrounds in fine arts, ceramics, marketing and business management, hand make all their pieces in Cecilia's home studio in Sydney, NSW.⠀
Oditi Designs are inspired by the indigenous concepts of the Mapuche women living in southern Chile fused with the Bauhaus' aim to create functional objects with the aesthetics of an artwork. Motivated by a desire for larger earrings and eccentric homewares, the trio began to create their own. Together they make ceramics, share skills, tell stories and strengthen their family bond. ⠀
Geometric shapes, bold colours and organic decorative elements are central to the brand. With high attention to detail and quality manufacturing, each ceramic piece is slip cast using porcelain, hand painted and fired to mid-range temperatures, minimising their carbon footprint.⠀
Find Oditi Designs and meet Cecilia, Samantha and Cynthia at the Makers & Shakers Market on Saturday 2 November at the Former Transport Depot/Old Bus Depot Building, Kingston Foreshore in Canberra.⠀

I’ve got Pumpkin Perfect in the mold tonight🧡
This loaf has thee best pumpkin scent I have ever smelled. It genuinely smells like freshly baked pumpkin pie! .
As if that wasn’t enough, these bars also contain organic pumpkin purée and a bit of myrrh gum for a light exfoliation. I’m so excited for these and definitely plan on setting one aside for myself 😍
Well, shoot. I just can’t wait any longer to share this project! There are a few more fun phases coming up for @therecessroom but you’ll just have to stay tuned. This beast of a chalkboard ended up being 5 by 10 feet of delight & hand cramps. I underestimate how much time almost every. single. project will take but let’s just say this one was an undertaking. Let me also tell you, I loves it. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Fun fact: the actual chalkboard was custom designed by yours truly ✨ We had to engineer a way to have such a heavy duder be secured and also removable during dinner hours. When you can’t find what you need, you ducking build what you need, amiright *Or technically, have someone build what you need in this case. Either way, pretty sure that’s what they refer to as a ONE STOP SHOP, ladies and gents 💪🏻 Also, so thankful to @austinhardwoods because without you, I don’t know where I would be in this life. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Second fun fact: I was so excited to make a cool time lapse with this one only to get home and realize I filmed the first 4 hours and 39 minutes of install in real time 🙃 Lunch time at The Recess Room rolls out next week for their soft opening and that is some exciting news for #orangecounty. I was drooling over every letter of every word of every menu item. Thanks for having me, guys!! It’s been a pleasure so far! ✨🖤
