Great marriages don’t happen by luck or by accident. They are the result of a consistent investment of time, thoughtfulness, forgiveness, affection, mutual respect, and a rock solid commitment between a husband and wife. ~ DaveWillis •

50 years, what an accomplishment, what a milestone, and what example to live up to and learn from. How beautiful love really is.. ❤️ My whole heart filled today. I hope to only live up to the beauty you’ve shown for fifty years. Don’t just make love, make love last. #50years #love #lovewins #goldenanniversary #marriage #goals
Today we're cleaning and saying goodbye to our first apartment together. It's been an amazing year and a half here but I'm ready to move and enjoy our new apartment. Pictures to come once the new place is all set up!
The perfect subject for my studio testing. 😍 I mean....... I’m kinda obsessed with my husband.
Like most of you I watched the live coverage of the Royal Wedding yesterday and found myself captivated by the whole ceremony. Somehow the couple honored the traditions of Britain’s most treasured family and also added some spark and fire 😏 with a sermon by the revolutionist Bishop @pb_curry the best rendition of Stand By Me that I’ve heard and an incredibly moving solist by @shekukannehmason It was just all so lovely and moving. Her dress, their vows, that first kiss on the staircase ✨
But you know what I couldn’t stop thinking about...I wonder what cross-cultural marriage will look like for them Granted Meghan married into Royalty, and I imagine there are huge perks and maybe even more burdens that come with that. But I wonder what about all of the cultural assumptions and adjustments- some perhaps because she married a Prince, but many because she’s an American, born and raised in California now living in Britain. I think about silly things, like one day if they have children, will their kids also get US passports Will they celebrate 4th of July (That’s definitely not a day of celebration in the UK) Will they grow up with high tea and crumpets and travel the world by private jet Will they also get to visit their grandparents in California and eat at IN-N-OUT
Of course these are trivial things, but there are very real, often unexpected challenges when you move countries and marry into a new culture. I don’t know much about the Royal Family or life in Britain, but I could write a novel about the unspoken cultural values that you discover in cross-cultural marriages. When you’re married to someone from a different race, or from a different country or culture or social class, I don’t know if I would say it’s “harder” than other marriages, but I would definitely say there are added layers and complexities. The distance between your differences can feel great, but when you find ways to move toward one another with empathy and patience, you create a bridge to understanding a whole new world, or someone else’s perspective on the world, which most likely is very different from your own. 🌎❤️ #crossculturalmarriagelife
