Learning that we can change our minds through mental training, meditation and mindfulness to completely change our lives is IMPORTANT! I'll be sharing morning meditations after my morning routine. Here is the first so let's talk about mindfulness, mental training and meditation itself.
Our minds can continue to grow through adulthood. Most of us don’t realize this. We focus so much on our physical training, but continue to neglect the most important thing above all which is mental training. Some rely on their higher powers to take care of their minds, but it simply doesn’t work that way. While it’s great to have faith, faith itself isn’t going to free your mind from emotional suffering.
Most people are unaware that it is possible to actually change our mind and not only temporarily, but lasting permanent change. Including cognitive, ethical and emotional changes. Continual growth is possible throughout our whole lives, if we are committed to becoming better if even only for selfish reasons in the beginning.
We have to prioritize the use of our attention.
We have to learn to have better conversations. We have to significantly improve our self awareness and have these conversations with ourselves to make any outward change in our lives and relationships lasting.
Most of our thinking is just self created illusions that bring on suffering in our lives.
Real meditation is an essential piece of making this change. Most of us in western culture were never taught this growing up in school or at home. If you look at many other cultures around the world particularly in Asia that do teach kids about meditation and mindfulness practices growing up, you will notice a completely different culture of people with less suffering, less disease, longer life spans and overall better dispositions. This is no accident.
If for no other reason, train your mind with meditation so that you can learn to let go of negative emotions. Free yourself from the suffering that they bring you.

So I did a thing.
In this last year I thought about, talked about, studied, practiced, doubted, decided not to, made excuses, took some deep breaths, acknowledged my insecurity and fear, meditated, and finally • I. Did. It.
You can listen to my medi’s on @insighttimer ~ I’ll be uploading more shortly & cant wait to share. Some will be Mudra focused, others will be awareness or breath focused. Come and breathe with me.

An ancient gnarled tree:
too fibrous for a
logger's saw, to twisted
to fit a carpenter's square,
outlasts the whole forest.
