I’ve had this book for a while and just finished reading the last chapters over the last weekend and here are my thoughts!
A wonderful look inside the inner workings of how to be!
First off, I thoroughly enjoyed my trip through Michelle’s life filled with challenges, desire, and hope. I found the story an uplifting look at normalcy and possibilities. I thank her for compellingly opening the door into her inner sanctum. Allowing readers to open our senses and almost touch, feel, and taste every aspect of what living with the piercing public eye blasting on your every breath. The book truly is a look into the history of firsts.
That’s where I’ll stop with the platitudes. While scouring the pages, I couldn’t help but think of where America is today Which lead to the following thoughts: With Barak Obama’s grace, intelligence, honesty and caring, the world moved several steps forward. It felt if hurdles were blasted over in joyful bounds. Some people have chosen to put on blinders. Or they’ve allowed their deep-rooted evils to consume them in the delusionality of wishing for something that never existed. In turn, thrusting hope and humanity ten steps backwards.
I know some have chosen to put on blinders. Or have allowed their inner evils to take the form of a delusional wish for something that never existed, have thrust hope and humanity ten steps backward.
I’m Canadian. I’m only stating that because I have no say in the politics of any other country. Reading Becoming made me long for a day where our leaders returned to wanting the best for everyone, not just themselves. I long for the circus to end and for the world to begin healing. Becoming restored my belief in the likelihoods of a better way happening once we remove toxicity from ruling our souls.
Thank you, Michelle, for becoming the fantastic beacon of hope you are!

In her new memoir, Becoming, Michelle Obama reveals that she suffered a miscarriage in her thirties and experienced fertility issues while trying to have children with her husband, former President, Barack Obama. Ultimately, the couple conceived their daughters, Sasha and Malia, through in vitro fertilization. #infertility #ivf #michelleobama #miscarriage
Reading #Becoming by @michelleobama and crying every ten pages because what she writes resonates so deeply. Memoir has always been my favorite genre of book because it takes you straight into the hearts and experiences of other people. It takes so much courage to be that brave, that raw, that reflective and open about who you’ve been and who you are in all moments, light and dark. Michelle sharing her journey up the mountain of achievement is something I felt in my core. I too went to law school because that was the next step in my ladder of advancement, only to realize once I got there I had left myself behind. For me it had a lot to do with my relationship with failure, something she so succinctly expresses in this quote from the book: failure is a feeling before it’s an actual result. I’ve rarely if ever actually experienced the actual result. But the feeling - the feeling I’ve worn like a second skin for my whole life. Never enough, never enough. The same refrain the echoed for Michelle. I’m working on letting go of failure the way I’ve let go of fear. It’s not easy, it’s not consistent, but it’s happening. Reading this book is helping. Have you read it What do you think ❤️ Melody

You probably remember this viral moment from last year: a young girl standing before the painting of #MichelleObama in the National Portrait Gallery, completely awestruck. One year later, 4-year-old Parker Curry and her mom want to inspire others to look up and see endless possibilities - just like she did when she saw the portrait of the former First Lady. They wrote a children's book, “Parker Looks Up,” together to encourage kids to follow their dreams.
