Concord Players regular JOHN ALZAPIEDI - @jja64 -returns to the stage to play FLORENZ ZIEGFELD in 💫💫 FUNNY GIRL 💫💫 opening November 8th!!!! We had the pleasure of sitting down with Mr. Alzapiedi to learn a little more about him and his preparation for this character, based on the iconic real-life man.
Concord Players: How would you describe your process for bringing such a classic figure from American theater history to life
John Alzapiedi: Although his name is well known I don’t think people have a preconceived notion of who he was which gives me some freedom to create my own character. Brian (Funny Girl Director) and I discussed it and we were on the same page that he’s a father figure to Fanny. He cares for her a lot and although he has a lot of bluster and people fear him, he’s an old softie.
CP: What is your favorite role you’ve had the opportunity to play
JA: Wow, there’s been quite a few but Salieri in Amadeus (Concord Players, Spring ‘16 - DASH award winner for Best Lead Actor (Play)) was the most rewarding. He never leaves the stage and has a tremendous amount of lines.
CP: What is your bucket list role
JA: I’ve been pretty lucky checking off my bucket list for musicals, but Sweeney Todd is the only one left. I’ve still got many straight show roles to do. A few would be Willy Loman, Norman Thayer in On Golden Pond and Henry Drummond in Inherit the Wind.
CP: What is your most memorable stage experience
JA: I played John Adams in the Concord Players production of 1776 (Spring, ‘04) which was fantastic, but after the run we got to take the whole show and perform it at Faneuil Hall on July 4th weekend. That will be tough to top.
CP: John, this is the part of the interview where we bring the heavy hitting journalism. We have to know, does John Alzapiedi prefer chocolate or vanilla
JA: (Long pause) Vanilla.
John and the rest of the energetic and dynamic Funny Girl cast will bring this classic musical to life in just under three weeks! It will be anything but... vanilla. (See what we did there) This is your community. Your theater. Your Concord Players.

🤢Singing while bloated can be very uncomfortable.🤢
For many of my Canadian friend the struggle is still going on as they get through their Thanksgiving leftovers. And with the holiday season coming up it's easy to eat something that will expand that belly - an I'm not talking belly breathing.
Bloating can occur from eating something your gut bacteria are not familiar with. Certain food combinations can also cause bloating (avoid cabbage and beans together!).
Whatever the reason, a few fennel seeds after your meal can help your digestion. BONUS: they will also freshen your breath.
The verdict’s in! Broadway and TV star Luca Padovan loved THE BIG ONE-OH! at the Atlantic Theater Company. And he’s got a spoiler about the 2020 iTheatrics Junior Theater Festival. One more performance tomorrow - don’t miss out on the party! 🎂 /// #TBOOMusical #TheBigOneOhATC #TheBigOneOh #JTF
