Raising Hell was probably the first rap album I heard that felt like a complete ALBUM and not just a collection of singles. It was the first rap album I can remember being an event record. I had a neighbor dub it onto a cassette for me for my summer trip to NY (I was living in Michigan at the time), and I rocked it for most of the summer (surreptitiously, after I got a “we don’t play that music in this house” lecture from my aunt.) The site I get release dates from lists Raising Hell’s release date as this day in 1986, which is patently false as there’s no way that I would’ve been able to get a dub copy of it a month before release (it actually came out in May of ‘86), but the album is so good and so important that I’m posting it today anyway. It became the first multi platinum rap album, gave Aerosmith a second act and introduced the sound of inner city black and brown America to much of white middle America. Cheers to Run, D and Jay (May he rest in paradise) for being key figures in making hip hop a global phenomenon and the most popular form of American music these days (although what is now considered hip hop is a FAR cry from Raising Hell.)

🌟🔮 A lot of ppl have been asking me recently about the instrument I play in my videos - it’s called a Theremin. ⠀
👋🔥 I play it without touching it by moving my hands around two antennas. My right hand controls the pitch (how high or low the sound is) and my left hand controls the volume.⠀
🙃🌈 Ppl say that it is one of the most difficult instruments in the world to play since it has no frets or keys to tell me where to find the note I’m trying to play - basically I need to focus and make the melodies appear by using my body’s energy and the power of my intentions. ⠀
🎀👾 Most ppl I meet have never heard of it, but most ppl recognize the sound from sci-fi and horror movies...but I think it’s so much more than just a sound effect. Lately I’ve been using it to cover some of my favourite songs and posting them here and on YouTube and I’m SOOOO happy that you guys seem to be enjoying them!! ⠀
💎🌷I’ve got lots more viddies up on my YouTube channel and I’ll be launching a new Theremin series over there v soon, so if u subscribe I would be so happy! The link is in my profile, come say hi and ty for all yr amazing comments and messages - I appreciate them so much!!⠀
Hard for me to hate anything this band has released. This is definitely good insight on the career that they would build in the future and not even that rough for a start. Very upbeat although vocally a little dull, but I personally think that is an issue on many of the records. Waiting for a good remaster of this thing I believe will make it a much more enjoyable listen in the future. Definitely can hear the more shoe gaze and kraut influence here that they would later infuse into other albums
Bruh it’s crazy that every folktronica album I’ve came across has a completely different vibe from the next one. This sounds very little like rounds yet I know that’s what they’re working from on this one. The IDM parts are not really found on this one and if they are only in small traces. I May even like this one more than rounds honestly. Supposedly the name is to get you to just stop what you’re doing and just relax to the music. Opens up the album with someone at a desk typing on a keyboard or something and then the pause happens and goes straight into this. I can see why someone wouldn’t be interested in this hipster shit but if you are definitely give it a listen
K Y L I E @kyliestepbackintime 🌹✨ Laaawd! You could have knocked me down with a feather during this moment. There’s a collective love and affection for @kylieminogue in the UK, she’s indeed the country’s sweetheart. Her audience range from children and adults from all walks of life, but most prominent was her gay fanbase who’s been with her through her 30+ year career. Thank you for the music Kylie and being the iconic fierce queen and LGBTQIA ally that you are. 💕✨

Big Bend - Radish (2019 | no. 48/100)
I am absolutely in love with this record. The mood, composition and production of this record is stellar. Truly mind blowing and beautiful record.

George Harrison once said Jeff Healey was the best guitarist he had ever heard. From the picture in the album you can tell Healey played the guitar in a unique way holding it across his lap while sitting down. He had to do this because he was blind. Cancer of the eyes, yet that never stopped him. Unfortunately he passed away in 2008 at the age of 41 as his cancer spread. The blues rock he played is some of my favourite of the genre. My favourite track from his 1988 debut album See the Light is the beautiful song Angel Eyes! Hearing @brianmayforreal play Dvorak's New World Symphony on electric guitar last night while levitating on a giant moon rock was truly mesmerizing. Thanks for satisfying the music geek in me and adding some classical music to your rock concert 🤘🏻
Have to say that some records stand very majestic on those two pavement stone. Machina is made to be there!
Wanted to do the lyric post of This Time for quite some time now. Specially that part of the song. Without going to details, i believe peeps who knows me knows what those lines mean.
