I've got nothing against boxed meals. I'm no chef so they come in handy. But through this health and fitness journey I've learned to take 'em up a notch for myself!
The family got lasagna (which to be honest I'm not in love with anyways) so I spiralized a zucchini, sauteed it a few minutes, threw on ground beef (already prepped 🙌), and scraped off a bit of sauce to add.
One big reason I hear that someone can't eat healthier is because of their family, specifically kids. This took me less than 10 minutes right before the lasagna came out of the oven.

Who else loves fluffy pillows and sports bras! 🙋♀️this is a typical morning for me... picking up my fluffy pillows of the floor after I toss them there the night before lol I have no where else to put them while I sleep 😏 which brings me to this Golden healthy hack..... and one of the best habits I have developed over the years, it is to make my bed!
It’s so easy and sets my day up for super positive vibes I don’t know how but it just works!! I got given this golden piece of advice from a friend years ago and he said it helped him be really productive and I never! Never made my bed ( or hardly ever) before he inspired me to try it out for myself and now i love it!
I love how it makes my room look amazing and makes me feel calm and relaxed when I come home from work.

It’s so easy to think “I can’t wait for ____.” Or “things will be better when ____.”
I’ve found myself doing that a lot lately. Not even that anything is bad right now - we just have so many exciting things coming up this year!
I’ve been thinking “I can’t wait for our wedding!” 👰🏼🤵🏼 or “I can’t wait for Tyler to graduate and get a job this spring after being back in school for 3 years for a 2nd degree so he doesn’t have to study at night” or “I can’t wait to see where Tyler gets that job so we can look at houses & move into a new house!” 🏡 or “I can’t wait until all of that happens ANDD we get another puppy! 🐶” 😂😂
You see what I mean It’s GREAT to look forward to things. But it’s also important to enjoy the MOMENT. Enjoy where you are RIGHT NOW. Enjoy the JOURNEY. -
And remember, where you are right now, is probably something you “couldn’t wait for” at one point either 😊

I'm a FIRM believer in a morning routine.
When the lady leading our parenting class at church mentioned waking up earlier than your children (especially on school days, but I recommend all days) to get yourself READY before dealing with their chaos, it was like the heavens opened and angels sang.
But seriously, I can't even begin to tell you the difference it not only makes in my anxiety levels but the mood of my kids when I give 90% focus (I mean I'm only human) to them as we get ready. It's like we're new people who genuinly like each other!
So while I've always got up early to workout and do my thing, I'm focusing more towards getting ALL my stuff out of the way before needing to focus on my tiny humans. I encourage you to try to establish a morning routine for yourself, too. You'll be amazed that you can get ready quicker when you're not also trying to keep the kids alive.

Having a wedding to look forward to is like the ultimate reason to stay on track with my health and fitness but #timehop reminded me that 5 years ago in October I took the chance on my first Online Fitness Bootcamp and started working out at home! I was living in NYC and in my late 20s and I was enjoying life!!!!. I gained so much weight over the summer my fall clothes didn’t fit anymore. I guess I hadn’t noticed because all those beautiful summer dresses were very forgiving! I was literally at the point where I either needed to invest in a new wardrobe or in my health and fitness! I couldn’t justify buying more clothes for myself just because I had indulged in too many disco fries at 4am after the club haha So I started my journey! I share this with you in hopes that I inspire you to start NOW... Make changes NOW... Don’t be like the average American and put it off until January! If you don’t know where to start I’d love to help! 💕 .

I truly believe everything happens for a reason. Whatever you are working through right now is out there for a reason and you will come out stronger & with lessons learned ✨
Sometimes I sit back and look around at others and wish I were more like them... they don’t workout or get up early or even care to eat healthy, yet they seem healthy, thin, and happy 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ .
Then I think “Why am I trying so hard for such little progress” I mean, my progress is soooo slow 🙄 and I just get frustrated and want to just throw in the towel! I mean seriously it sounds weird for me to say this out loud because I advocate health and fitness, but I’m just being real and I do feel this way at times! 😳 .
But then, 🤔 I think back on the years in my life when I didn’t workout, or try to eat healthy, or when I was sleeping in, rushing out the door, and feeling groggy all day... 🤔 I did that, and I didn’t like it! I didn’t like feeling that way.... .
So yeah, there maybe some out there who don’t HAVE to workout, or eat right, or get up early and make time for themselves in the wee early hours, but for ME... for my body, mind, anxiety, health, happiness, family, marriage, self image and so much more... I do it! I struggle more often than not, but I do it! 👊🔥👊 .

My 2015 New Year’s Resolution was to start practicing yoga just ONE time per week. The goal was definitely not to become a Yoga Teacher. But...as things turned out, I completed Yoga Teacher Training in June of this year.

Do you have a BOUNCE BACK PLAN 👀 I’m talking for your MINDSET. .
Something really crappy happened today. Like really really crappy. Like $3,000 worth of crappy haha. And I could have let it ruin my day or heck ruin my month. But I’ve learned over the years to formulate a bounce back plan for when something shitty happens. .
So whether you come home from a bad day at work, someone close hurt you or made you mad, something unexpected happened, or whatever it may be that just got your blood boiling - you need to formulate a bounce back plan. I made mine up, but it works. 🤷🏽♀️ .
Immediately once something bad happens - go to your plan. Which means you need to figure out that plan NOW and not in the moment. .
My personal bounce back plan is:
- Drink a scoop of my plant based pre workout ✨
- Turn on my playlist with my favorite JAMS 🎶 - Either exercise or preferably go outside and nature and go for a long walk 🏃🏽♀️🐶 - Start thinking of & listing everything I’m grateful for 🙏🏽
So today, that’s just what I did. And you know what, it WORKED. For something that in the past would have made me meltdown & cry & be pissed all night, I went right into my plan and it actually worked! I didn’t even cry 😂🙌🏽 and if you know me at all, I’m a very emotional person. 😂😭

You see how silly mine is, and you can witness it first hand as it happened in my IG stories. But it worked. And I’m totally ok. And we’re ok. And honestly I just kept thinking “Kaiya is healthy” 🐶 and last week that’s ALL I could possibly want. I have a roof over my head in a cozy clean house, a great fiancé, a healthy dog, a job I love, co-workers I’m obsessed with, & overall a life I love. 💕

I don’t even know where to begin with my thoughts and feelings this morning! Yesterday’s Maui Half Marathon was simply the best! 🏃🏽♀️ Saturday morning was dark and gloomy and I was feeling anxious! I had this huge blister on my heel from the previous weeks training. With one storm after another for over a month and humidity that drains you, I must say I’ve been spent physically and emotionally! 😢
But something was different yesterday, Sunday Morning. Waking up at 3:00 am there was finally a coolness in the air. As I spent time in prayer and inhaling deeply the oils that gave me strength, I simply asked God for blessings on me, my brother, and all those participating in the race. 👟
As I laced up my shoes heavy laden with Lavender and Moleskin on my blister, Bergamot and Spearmint for confidence, and Valor on the bottoms of my feet for strength (Thank you D. Gary Young for your wisdom in creating such a powerful blend) I knew I could face whatever pain and lack of training I might experience! 💥
With the sound of GO...off we went into the quiet and darkness of the morning. There’s a peace and tranquility at that time of day, despite running with the masses. Everyone is in deep thought about what’s ahead! 🌺
As the sun rose about 6:20, I knew I was feeling strong and fit! 💕
It wasn’t until about Mile 9 that my other foot needed a little moleskin too! But a brief stop for some TLC and off we went sometimes walking, sometimes jogging, to finish the race! 👏🏼 Was it my fastest time No...but better than last year! Did we walk the whole time Not even! Despite wearing my beat up shoes instead of my 4 week old shoes that gave me the blister in the first place, my brother and I ran, walked and finally sprinted through the finish line and beat our last years time! 💪🏼 Two 60+ year olds who didn’t let age, lack of training, blisters and other age related pain issues stop us, crossed the finish line and feel complete joy in our hearts. AND....it was picture perfect weather. 🌅

For over an entire year now, every single day that I sit down to work I’ve written 10 goals in this little notebook ✨
This notebook is nothing fancy. I probably got it at Walmart.
I’ve written every single morning in this. Whether I’ve been at Starbucks, in Costa Rica, Mexico, Indianapolis, Pennsylvania, Colorado, on an airplane, in a hotel room, or right here in my cozy home office - I take 3 minutes every morning to sit down and write out what I want in life. There’s something about that pen to paper 📝 .
It’s so fun to look back what I wrote a year ago. Some of those goals I’ve exceeded and some I’m still working towards. .
I encourage you to do this and really think about your life. And what I write down changes everyday or some days they are similar. .
These can be work or business goals but I also encourage you to write life goals too. .
Just some examples I have written in here:
• Team Exceed the Dream is an Elite coaching team - and we DID IT in half a year when it normally takes a full year! 💕
• Tyler and I will take a 2 week honeymoon 🏝
• Pay for our dream wedding in cash on our own 👰🏼 • Attract my dream teammates who I’m so excited to work with & help them live their dream life ⛅️ • Have success with amazing balance & relaxation 🧘🏽♀️ • Get another puppy 🐶 • Give a TedX Talk 😬
• Choose joy everyday & be HAPPY
• Wake up EXCITED every morning & jump out of bed 🛏 .
Again, just a FEW examples out of the hundreds that I have written over the past year! ✨ some are small little things for everyday and some are HUGE future goals! .
Writing them down everyday helps me focus on where I want to go & also enjoy the present and how far I’ve come. ☀️ .
In addition to this, in my planner I write down 3 things of GRATITUDE everyday - which is even more important than goals! You also see them in my IG stories 😊
