Sizing my paper with tea, henna and rice starch to paint with Saffron and more. This is a recipe I found from old Persian illuminations and miniatures ( 7th Century). The magic of those beautiful colors is within these preparation and use of nature elements.
I am creating a new body of work of Saffron and Tea for 2020, a new decade , a new approach!.How would those masters think and work if they were alive now in 21st century #painting #sizingpaper #saffron andteapainting #natureart #teaandsaffrin #henna
Happy #wapitiwednesday! (I just recently learned that hashtag exists and had to join in on the wapiti/elk appreciation!) So... This is my first 100% colored pencil piece in a very long time. This is significant to me because I've always considered myself mainly to be a colored pencil artist. I have been focusing on a lot of other mediums in the past few years for various reasons, such as convince (i.e. digital), and quickness (i.e. watercolors). I find that branching out to other mediums is also a good way to learn about various art techniques and broaden my skills.
The quick watercolors and ink drawings I've been doing lately have mainly just been to help myself get back into the swing of art again. The truth is, at least for me, colored pencils take a lot more time, planning, and are a lot easier to mess up. So I wanted to work my way up to them again.
But to me, going back to colored pencils is like going home. 💜 It's good to be back!

So pleased to get our @florafelt walls installed at a stunning new home in Palo Alto this week!
We still have a few finishing touches to add and the house needs to be finished before we can show you both walls in all their glory, but this is a sneak peek in the meantime!
We are really pleased with how it turned out - what do you think
