We had an amazing turnout for our Recruitment Open Day in Bicester last Saturday with over 400 visitors! Despite having an award-winning @scasjobs.co.uk Recruitment Team, there was one visitor we felt was barking up the wrong tree and we didn't have any immediate openings for him! For everyone else there was plenty to see and do and hopefully it will encourage many of our visitors to come and work in our 999, NHS 111, patient transport or support services. Thanks to the multi-tasking, multi-skilled @darren_weston for being our official photographer on the day. Our second Open Day will be held on Saturday 26 January (10am-2pm) at our Otterbourne offices in Hampshire #newyearnewjob #careerchange #nhscareers #nhsjobs #999jobs #111jobs #patienttransportservice #pts #ptsjobs #scas #scasjobs #ambulancejobs #dogsofinstagram

Posted @withrepost • @imperialnhs ... “I started as a clinical research nurse in November 2017, initially in renal medicine where I have a nursing background. I first found out about working in research from Tom Walters, the research manager in that specialty - the more he told me, the more my eyes were opened!
I recently moved to working on Parkinson’s disease research in the Imperial Memory Unit. My job involves recruiting patients for the clinical studies, consenting them, administering the medication if that is part of the trial, and monitoring the trial to ensure the data we are collecting is authentic. As an advocate for the patients, I ensure that all the correct protocols are followed so that the trials are ethical.
At the moment I'm working on quite an intense project. My first project here in the Memory Unit was already lined up when I started, so everything was within my reach. But with this one, I’ve found some aspects daunting. I’ve overcome all those things by taking ownership - this is my project, I want it to run effectively. As I work alongside my manager and the doctor or consultant responsible for the study, I continually ask questions and keep learning as I want things to run smoothly.
One of the most rewarding things about my job as a research nurse is when I see a patient’s condition drastically improve because of a clinical trial they are taking part in. Being a research nurse also allows me to have more time with my young daughter as I now have evenings and weekends to spend with her.” Agnes Motsi, clinical research nurse, Imperial Memory Unit, Charing Cross Hospital

An estimated 410,000 NHS staff give up their Christmas and New Years celebrations to care for patients and their families. .
24hr Care would not be possible otherwise. .
We would like to start our year with gratitude. To the NHS staff who worked and work around the clock during this season when most of us have time off, we are eternally thankful!!! .
People who need access to emergency or ongoing care do not pause for Christmas or New Years and neither does our amazing NHS. .
To our students, our future NHS workers, keep going, there is great purpose in your future careers.

"Over 20 years ago I started as a shy student technician, where I rotated into aseptics and immediately developed a passion and love for the role and worked up to a senior lead pharmacy technician. My role involves managing the daily running of the aseptic unit, ensuring that chemotherapy is made in a timely manner to treat our patients. Over the years, aseptics has come a long way with new paperless systems, dose banded chemotherapy and the use of robot technology to provide the best care for our patients. Our service provides chemotherapy to oncology, haematology, renal and clinical trials patients across the Trust. We prepare chemotherapy using cleanroom and isolator technology to provide tailored doses which are free from particulate and microbial contamination. The team is made up of a wide range of staff, including pharmacists, technicians and assistants. No one day is the same! I love working here as it is challenging, the team is fantastic and I enjoy the hustle and bustle of a demanding and rewarding service." Allison Oliver, senior lead pharmacy technician, Hammersmith Hospital
