Now spinning: Rage Against the Machine is the eponymous debut studio album by American rock band Rage Against the Machine, released on November 3, 1992 by Epic Records. The album peaked at number 1 on the US Billboard Heatseekers chart and number 45 on the US Billboard 200. Iconic cover supported by metal funk angst. Great album and essential listening!
System Of A Down - S/T: Their debut LP originally released in 1998 by American Recordings, this is the 1st vinyl pressing recently released by Columbia Records. You best believe I still fuck with SOAD!! They played such a pivotal role in introducing me to quality heavy music that also gets weird as hell hahah. Of course these guys came up during the nü-metal craze of the late 90's/early 2000's but much like Deftones I'm honestly hesitant to even classify them amongst the bands of that genre. This album still RIPS so fuckin' hard and they had so much more to say then most of their peers at the time, if anything it's only gotten better with age. I really can't believe it took 20 years for this to get an official vinyl release hah. Can't wait to pick up "Toxicity" next which is IMO their crowning achievement!
It was 1997, I was 15 and my Grandad had passed away couple years before, it was still like a sledgehammer had hit our little family. The Nana was never the same for the years that followed his passing. We moved house to another park in our little town.Jack Frost had covered the garden making it look like a white spiky land before time. A couple of magpies took the hierarchy role from the back fence. The weekend had arrived and was welcomed with open arms, family friends were coming to visit for dinner so there was house keeping to be done, the floors cleaned and magazines or newspapers put away, books, records, clothes and random crap put back in the drawers and presses. The heads maybe a little sore from the night before but still thinking clearly, no arguments or stress related issues, no shit getting in the way, everything was getting done and the anxiety levels at a reasonable low and then just to make everything even better boom this sound comes perfectly out of the speakers like something I’d never heard before, it was James Taylor’s HOURGLASS album absolutely mind blowing musicianship and lyrically a 5 Star bundle of brilliance. So the sun shines on his funeral.Just the same as on a birth,The way it shines on everything that happens here on Earth. It rolls across the western sky and back into the sea and spends the day's last rays upon,This fucked up family, so long old pal.
