Alcohol is considered to be the “4th macronutrient”. This means it is it’s own thing. Alcohol contains roughly 7 calories per gram. ⁣

When you look at the nutrition information of a beer, for example, a 12 fl. oz. Bud Light, you will notice it has 6.6 grams of carbs, 0.9 grams of protein and 0 grams of fat. ⁣
We know that protein and carbs have 4 cals per gram and fat has 9. If you do the equation (0.9x4)+(6.6x4)+(0x9) you get 30 calories. But the label says 110 calories?! That is because there is roughly 11.43 grams of alcohol in this beer. At 7 calories per gram, 11.43 grams x7 gives us 80 calories. Add 30 and 80 and you get 110 calories. ⁣

This means NO, beer is not made up completely of carbs, it is made up of a small amount of carbs, smaller amount of protein and the majority is alcohol. ⁣

So what do we do about these 80 calories from alcohol? Track them as carbs or fats. Which one is your call. NEVER as protein. The easiest way is to take total calories of the beverage and divide by 4 to track as carbs or divide by 9 to track as fats. If I am having 2-3 drinks I will usually track two as carbs and one as fats. What I do for MFP is search for “carbs” or “fats”, this will give you an entry that has a serving size of one gram usually. I will adjust the serving size for the amount of that macro that I want to track. Yes, you could count the .9 gram of protein if you really want to. ⁣

I confess... I am a Bak-lover 😂😋. It's known for being sweet, sticky and syrupy and our #healthychoices version will not disappoint your sweet tooth. This #healthysweetsaturday Apple Baklava will tick ✅ all the boxes; including the guilt free one!
HOT TIP: There are two ways to finish your baklava to obtain crispy pastry - cold baklava, hot syrup or hot baklava, cold syrup.
SYRUP: 
Place in a saucepan and simmer for 10 mins. Allow to cool fully.
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 cup honey 🍯 
1 tbs lemon 🍋 juice
FILLING: 
Heat for 3 minutes in a frying pan. Allow to cool 
3 Granny Smith 🍏, peeled and diced 1cm
2 tsp cinnamon powder 
4 cups nuts - almond, walnut, pistachio (any combination works)
In a lined rectangular tray place 1 sheet of Filo Pastry and lightly brush with Olive Oil. Do this with 8 sheets. Reserve 8 more for the top, keep covered with teatowel to prevent drying out. Spread some mixture onto pastry in tray, top with filo and brush with oil. Repeat until all pastry and all mix is used up. Top with remaining sheets, brushing between each layer. Cut baklava (very gently) into squares, secure with a Clove in the centre. Bake at 175°C for 1 hour to make sure it cooks and dries all the way through. Remove from the oven and immediately pour on (cooled) syrup. Allow it to soak in for as long as you can resist before you #eat it 😋.

TEMPO

At ASP we use a 4 digit tempo to denote the speed given to each portion of a repetition.

A lot of coaches and trainees still follow a 3 digit tempo however this is inefficient as some movement are preferable if you perform an Isometric Pause at the end of the Concentric phase or at the Eccentric Phase.

So here’s the way we at ASP have summed up the lift.
We will use a bicep curl as the example of movement using a 3-2-X-1 Tempo.

First Number: Eccentric Phase ⏬.
This is the muscle lengthening portion of the movement where for the bicep curl you would proceed to lower the weight for 3 seconds until the bicep is completely lengthened.

Second Number: Isometric Pause ⏸.
This is where a Paused is added in the lengthened/Stretched position of the lift where during the bicep curl you would proceed to a loaded stretch for 1 second. This also notes passive tension depending on the strength curve of the exercise you are working with.

Third Number: Concentric Phase ▶️.
This is the muscle shorted portion of the lift where during the bicep curl, because it is stated as X you proceed to contract as fast as possible until the bicep is completely shortened.

Fourth Number: Isometric Pause ⏸.
This is where a Pause is added in the Shortened/Contracted position of the lift where during the bicep curl you would proceed to contract the weight for 1 second. This is a great way to add further tension to a weakened position depending on the strength curve.

If an exercise is 4-0-1-0 Tempo this would indicate 5 seconds of tension per rep. If you performed 10 reps this would this would indicate 50 seconds of total tension for the entire group of repetitions.

In the world of Hypertrophy 40-70 is usually dictated as the sweet spot of maximal tension for hypertrophic stimulation.

The L.S. “absorbs and transports fatty acids and fats.” The system doesn’t have a pump attached to it like the circulatory system has the heart to pump the blood. The lymphatic system can benefit from quad muscle contractions. I’m also wearing an elevation mask to give my diaphragm and intercostal muscles some resistance training. These muscle help the lungs open and close. As an athlete it seems wise to build your respiratory muscles while building skeletal muscle. Inhalation is the key source in getting our cells oxygen. .

My thoughts on training the legs..... Resistance training with the legs can really help the lymphatic system flow with power. The L.S. “absorbs and transports fatty acids and fats.” The system doesn’t have a pump attached to it like the circulatory system has the heart to pump the blood. I’ve eaten reaaaally well this week as has my 8 week challenge crew. It’s motivating for me to see. Fair is fair & we are all in this together. What I’m doing is exactly what I’ve told them to do. Taking my own advice hehe 😇 strictly.

But I’m extra grateful for days like today for even even deeper reason. These are the PEAKS that make the valleys so worth it. ⁣

 kemanapun liburannya, jangan lupa ya sarapan sehatnya dari granola dari @pure.licious .Sehat, praktis karna sudah lengkap isi nya,ada quicked rolled oat nya, ada slice almondnya, ada dry fruitnya, ada sun flower seednya dan ada Palm sugarnya juga loh. 
Cukup tambahkan yoghurt atau susu diamkan beberapa menit, langsung makan deh .Praktiskan, yuks dicoba 😉.
